Hi,

this sounds just like me. In the morning I go 4 to 5 times to the bathroom. I have the bloating problem to. I also have a strangs sound coming out of my abdomen. And like you, this all starts in the morning.

I went with this problem to my GI and he made a list of all my complaints (feeling tired all the time, my stool has a yellow colour, ...). He said that I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrom). The problem is that I don't really know what it is. Stress has a lot to do with it and diet too.

I got duspatalin and colofiber. Duspatalin helps the bloating and cramps. Colofiber makes me go to the toilet like a normal person (because I always went from constipation to diarhea and vice versa).

Maybe you have IBS? I don't know. It is something the GI can't fix. You can only change your diet and be as calm as you can. I hope this helps you. Unfortunatly I can't give you more information since I've just heard it recently that I have this.

Good luck and I hope that you will feel better soon.

Julie
It doesn't matter how many times you fall, but how many times you get up en go for it again. HOPE !!!!

When I was having issues with my gut, but before the MC Dx. I took enzymes before I ate any large meal. It did help. I no longer need to do that though :)

Hi Rick,

Unfortunately I can't offer any advice, but I do feel the exact same way as you. My bloating only subsided for the first few months I was on the paleo diet, it has since returned for some reason but it did work for a while, so it might be something to look into. I'm pretty much bloated all the time, some days more than other but I hate it and no doctor seems to be able to offer me any advice to fix it.

Hi Rich, for me the bloating was very noticiable before Dx. Now if I accidentally have a modest amount of gluten (not a trace amount), soy or if I have too many raw veggies I will start to see the bloating again. I do the best when I avoid gluten, soy, dairy and all of the modestly reactive foods as was defined by the MRT testing.

My bowel habits have been odd. I alternate between C and D. I feel like I have to relieve myself most of the time, but have trouble going..
That's me.
I am always bloated and uncomfortable. I have given up hoping for the bloating to go down.

I do eat too much sugar because if I have AR I need to suck on something to keep the saliva flowing. I have cut it down a lot, but still ingest way too much.

Otherwise my diet is very restricted, although I have added some stuff back.
I ate out when my DD came to visit and was super sick after. Now I am back to my usual C<->D, feeling like I need to go, but can't.

I got a squatty potty, and find it DOES help sometimes. Not always though.

i have had a footstool in my toilet for years. back in the 1990's a physio friend of mine gave me all the diagrams and data about how our western style toilets are causing us more harm than good. and if we squatted like the asian/middle east we would be alot better off.

Distention for this newcomer

Post by sho37 »

HI ALL!
So glad i found this page. Just diagnosed with CC on Friday after 1.5 years of stomach HELL. Even went to Mayo and went for biofeedback for a descending perinium syndrome.... Even when I complained about 3 weeks prior of D.

I also change from D to C constantly. But lately i have had D SO bad i had 4 accidents (thank gd i was home). This is why we did a colonoscopy and My new doc found CC.

I TOO suffer from Daily Distention that starts slightly in the morning and then as i eat just gets worse and EVERYDAY i look about 7 months pregnant. I too am fairly thin so its very noticeable and strange. And its painful. i even get lower back pain ( like an actual pregnant person). I have had sibo in the past but not anymore.

Im 33. I have not had my period in 2 years. I sweat like im going thru menopause at night. No estrogen being produced. I also have strange rashes on my face lately showing up for the past month too. (goes hand in hand with this terrible D flare up)
Fatigue like crazy
Lactose intolerance
I follow a low fodmap diet but eat liike 35 grams of fiber a day because i fear constipation, but am thinking of trying to reduce this slowly and also reduce gluten. I do also eat alot of raw fruit... so will cut this down too..

AHHHHHHH. Any love and support and help is appreciated.

Hi Shoshana,

Welcome to our Internet family. All of your symptoms are very familiar to most of us who have CC/LC/MC. And a fair number of us (including me) had alternating D and C, though its not particularly common. MC causes hormonal disruptions and it depletes magnesium, so it's difficult to guess whether your night sweats are due to hormones or a magnesium deficiency. The facial rash suggests that you may also have mast cell activation disorder (MCAD) You can read some basics about it to see if this might apply to you in the short articles at the following links:

What are mast cells?

How are mast cells associated with microscopic colitis?

How do I know if mast cells are causing problems for me?

How are mast cell issues treated?

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
