Thx everyone
No eggs for me until I am in remission. I haven't had any wheat in over 6 months. As a child, when I had either of those foods, I broke out in hives. However, I take the flu shot with no problem.
I am going to continue with the pepto for 8 weeks. It would be terrific to finally achieve remission! In all of these years-actually 30-3 weeks or so is the only remission I have ever achieved. PS As a test, I took a culturelle 4 hours ago and all is well.
We normally cook dinner meat, poultry, and seafood with onions and red peppers. Now I suspect those 2 veggie culprits. So tonight we will leave them off and see if it makes a difference.
I want to thank all of you again. It is great to have your support. I am really down in the dumps. Everyone in my household is fed up with my illness. It makes me so sad to not feel good. But this time I am going to hang in there until I reach remission and stay in remission.

Drdebc, I a sorry you have had such a rough go. I was throwing a pity party today, and your post helped me see it could be worse. I hope you find plenty of support and information on this forum. Tex is a wealth of info. He has a book about MC. I recently ordered it--haven't received it yet, but other forum members recommended it.

Thanks Jennifer5
I am going to paint a smile on my face. When asked how I am feeling, I will just smile. Can't admit how I feel around here. It pulls everyone down.
SO THANKS for your support.
I had a birthday on Nov 7 and told my girlfriends to not come for a visit. I simply did not feel up to it.
I WILL get well!!!

I had to cut out onions and peppers, also, while I was recovering, but I can tolerate them now.
This is a very depressing, lonely disease, and it can really strain relationships among family members who don't recognize it as a serious disease that deserves their whole-hearted support. Among the members here, those who are motivated, get their life back.
We're here any time you need to vent. We've been there, done that, and we totally understand.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thx Tex
I LOVE onions and peppers. I am going to blanch and freeze the beautiful peppers I have. I look forward to remission and to being able to enjoy them after 8 weeks of Pepto.
One of my girlfriends sent me an Amazon gift certificate for my birthday. I am going to order your book with it!
Thanks so much for a source to vent. I just want to scream, slam doors etc.
I WILL get well
Thanks again, Tex

Leah and Tex
Coffee does not seem to affect me. I only have 1-2 cups. I take 2 Pepto Bismol caplets then I wait an hour. D seems to let up about an hour after caplets 5 and 6 of the 8 have been consumed. I am having fewer D events than when I started the Pepto Bismol treatment. Crossing my fingers that every day will be better.
Real screw up on my part a little while ago. I craved Tortilla Soup and had a bowl at a local South Western restaurant being careful to not eat the homemade corn tortillas. Also had some guacamole. The onions and the peppers in the soup did me in. Bad me! Now I am paying for it. Now I know I cannot consume spices, tomatoes, or peppers till up tummy gets healed. Yes Tex, you were right.

Leah, thx again
I do love red peppers, onions and tomatoes (cooked as a seasoning with meat, chicken, seafood) but I learned my lesson BIG TIME today. I had already ingested my 8 Peptos so I moved to my Lomitil-took 3 of them to stop the D. It finally worked! I am eating nothing.
I am sticking to The Wheat Belly Plan so there will be no corn tortillas in my future or flaxseed meal (thanks Tex).
I go back to my Primary MD tomorrow-update from additional thyroid and granular blood tests. I need to lose 20 lbs and it has not happened despite my diligence and all of the D.
I moved to a tiny mountain town from Atlanta, a year ago. Thus my insurance changed with my address. My Primary MD's PA had prescribed red rice yeast and omega fish oil for cholestrol and the Primary recently put me on statin Lipitor because of my family history of heart attacks and strokes. I will be giving her my news of no statins as a result of this site and the trackyourplaque site (Wheat Belly). Dr. Davis (Wheat Belly) has also told me I need Armour for hypothyroidism. So I will also be blowing her mind with that information. God bless her! Cute, intelligent but open minded. She has already suggested I contact our local functional MD since her training does not include functional training. Of course this is not covered by my insurance. However, I think the testing is. I intend to order Niacin for the cholestrol issue. Here is an interesting link from Dr. Davis should anyone want to try niacin for cholestrol.

I WILL get well and I thank all of you for your encouragement. I am hungry but feeling better.

I miss my onions and peppers too, though I do seem to tolerate a little onion while on Pepto. Just FYI, in the beginning I took 2 Peptos in the morning, 2 after lunch, 2 after dinner and 2 more before bedtime. I'm currently weaning off as I mentioned and am now down to 4 a day but I make sure to keep that bedtime dosage in as I feel it helps me a lot better once morning comes as I always had the D issues in the morning.
Watch out for beans too! Can't remember if anyone mentioned that or not....too tired to read back at all the posts right now. I'm glad you are having less D with the Pepto and the occasional Lomotil. I'm fixing to be on my 10th week of Pepto weaning down to 3 pills now. If the Pepto really works well for you, I would advise that after the 8 weeks you taper off rather than just stopping the full dose in one day. I'm hoping that the weaning will help me get off them easier. We shall see.
Take care,
Terri

Great advice, Terri
I know from experience that starchy beans are something I can't digest until I heal my gut. I can digest a small amount of green beans or green peas. Red wine is another no no for me until I am healed. Great idea to save 2 peptos for bedtime.
Thanks again,
Deb
