Just spoke with OMA!

Post by Polly »

Hi All!

Just spoke with OMA in the hospital! She is SO sweet and has a voice like a young girl. She is amazingly upbeat and laughs a lot.

Surgery started 2 hours late and lasted 3 hours. Luckily, they did not have to replace any blood. They did not get her up the first day after surgery but have each day since. The pain is excruciating, she says, but is helped by the percoset and demerol she is on. She got sick to her stomach from morphine so can't take it anymore.

The MC acted up the night before surgery but has been fine since. She is on her asacol and another med she takes for MC.

She sent Mike off hunting for the weekend. She is so funny! Claims that she has made friends with everyone at the hospital....... said that she had no choice, since they are in charge of her pain meds! LOL! The hospital food is excellent and she is enjoying it. She does not yet know when they will discharge her - she has been running a lowgrade temperature.

I gave her all of our love and best wishes, and she sends her love to everyone, too. Momster, I told her that you will have some advice and support for her when she gets home.

Love,

Polly

P.S. Mars, I told OMA about your fall and she sends her wishes for a speedy recovery.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

Good hospital food???? Maybe I should go where she is for my upcoming surgery!

Glad she is upbeat about it all. That will help her more than anything. And good for her for sending Mike hunting! I'm doing the same with Geoff the first weekend after my surgery...my sister will be here and he is definately going to have so many more responsibilities while I'm down. These guys do good taking care of us!
