Sex and relapse/Flare-Up in Women?

Post by CNewman »

I have been having a now going on three week "flare-up/relapse" after having been doing really while for a couple of months. (Dx'd with CC in May)
I have been as careful as possible with what I have been eating, and have replaced ALL of my personal care and beauty items, as I notice a correlation to becoming sick, and itchiness to the point I have 5 scratch scars.

So, with almost no offensive products in my house,(My EnteroLab results showed HIGH Sensitivity to Gluten & Soy. Sensitivities to Oats and Rice- but that is all it showed (fine with dairy, corn and other offending ingredients.)

So I want to pose the question to women here: Do you find any correlation between unprotected sex/oral sex and flare ups/relapses?

If one can become irritated by using a lotion or shampoo, wouldn't it make sense that ingestion (either way) of your partner's semen (assuming they are consuming foods you are sensitive to) would cause you to have a flare up/relapse?

Inquiring minds want to know. Specifically my husband, since he is paranoid that he is making me more sick.

I do not believe food proteins a man ingests can get into their semen. I have heard of women being allergic or sensitive to their partner's sperm. Then again, I've also heard stories that ingesting it is somehow good for immune issues because your body learns to tolerate it (Unlike the man it came from, LOL! )

Seriously though, I would highly doubt your hubby is to blame. Poor guy. It's more likely something your are still eating, like dairy, maybe corn.

Then again, I have no right answers, because I have an itchy rash I can't find the cause of either!

Very interesting question! After someone from some other site mentioned not sharing toothpaste with someone who eats gluten, I have become paranoid! Especially since just being diagnosed with Celiac as well. Where is the itch at? Any D? And another question? What about passionate kissing with someone who has just eaten gluten? Ah...this can drive one insane!

Hope you get some answers!

I've become increasingly aware of kissing my husband after he's eaten. Poor guy, nothing like turning away from the one you love..... a far as sex and flares, I've not noticed anything, however, I'm still trying to figure out what's caused my sex drive to be non-existant.

Oh lord...my sex drive left me 20 years ago when they put me on Amitriptyline. One of the side effects. And now with this colitis, but husband steers clear of me somewhat. Back when I was having the D, before my wonderful pink tablet, there was no way I was even going to try. Poor hubby having to deal with that along with my new diet. This disease really sucks. I bought a chocolate cake for my mom's b-day because it's her fave but for some reason today I broke down knowing I would never be able to eat it again. I did order something for me from the GF bakery so should not have reacted so bad, but dang it, I really miss my old foods. I've been doing so well...no cheating....but for some reason today was difficult. Maybe because the holidays are approaching.

So Deb, I'm thinking it's either some med you are taking, some hormonal issue or it's because you are still having issues with this nasty disease. I think once I get off Pepto and hope to go into remission maybe I'll become a better wife...but now it just ain't happen'.

OK, I apologize for responding here, since I'm obviously not a woman, but if you are having reactions that seem to be associated with sex, then your problem is almost surely his soap. See post number 5 in the old thread at this link:

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... imate+soap

Also, EnteroLab only tests for casein antibodies, (casein is the primary protein in milk). There are other proteins in milk that can cause reactions (whey protein, for example). While most of us who are sensitive to dairy products react to casein, you might be an exception who does not react to casein, but you react to another protein instead.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Tex, Not only gluten in the soap but triclosan. Digestive Problems-Antibacterials & Leaky Gut http://www.healthnowmedical.com/blog/an ... leaky-gut/ Triclosan is now getting into the drinking water supplies from overuse and is producing bacterias that are resistant to antibiotics. Jon

Tex- it's a good thing eveyone in the house is deer hunting right now and I'm alone because I LMAO when I read the thread about the soap. Too funny (I'm sure it wasn't at the time).

Terri- I really don't think it's related to any meds I'm taking because I'm only taking entorcort along with antihimstamines and my supplements. Last year when I was on prednisone I knew without a doubt that is what caused my issues and my husband was very understanding. Within the past month, I've had lots of previous issues return so I agree it may be hormonal or something else. Tex has already commented on the thyriod potential which I'm going to follow up on again. My timing is always off as I don't have anyone to see at the moment since my family doc has left his practice and I need to find a replacement. I attempted to make an appointment yesterday but my plans fell through. My old doc recommended a first year intern who I thought I'd try but he is currently at a different location and won't be at my location until "sometime in December." I'm at a loss right now because I'm not sure if I want someone so new since he won't have any experience with what I'm going to dump on him but at the same time I'm thinking maybe a newer graduate will have more of an open mind about treatments. The scheduling department asked me if I there was another doctor that I wanted to see and if I prefered a male or female. I laughed at her and said I was more concerned about "philosophy." There was a long pause after I explained I wanted someone who open to the ideas of alternative medicines, etc.
