Was I born with low levels of Vitamin-D?
Hi, While researching vitamin-D I found two interesting articles. "Effects of sunlight exposure on vitamin-D status in pregnant woman in France" www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1955664 The second one "Give pregnant women vitamin-D supplements to ward off MS say researchers" Science Codex Nov14,2012. The were many other sites about research done on this topic. I must have had low vitamin-D as my birthday is in March and was born in Mass. I better have a test to check. I am taking 2000 IU a day from fish oil. Jon

in relation to sun exposure and converting the UV to Vit D in our bodies, the effectiveness of this process deteriorates as we age and if there are long term health issues.
in relation to your Vit D3 levels now, it would depend on sun exposure amounts, foods you ate your life till now.
as we know from users on the board, Vit D deficiency can be fixed in a short period of time when the intake is increased.
Get tested, as Vit D 3 deficiency is linked to many elements of our long term wellness.
In Aus, with the right doctor, they are more than happy to test Vit D3 levels every 6 months (ie i dont pay) as it is getting acknowledement of how important Vit D3 levels are.

When I saw my PHP last week, he ordered a blood test and I asked if I could have the vitamin D level tested. I'm on Medicare now, and apparently it doesn't routinely cover the vitamin D test. I am concerned that my level will be too high. It was 92 the last time I had it tested. I'm not sure if my 4500 daily winter supplement is too much.
