Hi everyone,

My name is Hans and I’m a 44 yr old Dutch sufferer of CC. I recently joint this group and I’m very happy to have discovered that there is in fact a group of people all having the same decease and the horror that comes with it. Regretfully there is no such board or group in Holland and I’m really eager to share my own story and findings and read all the other stories on this board.
I hope to be of some help where convenient for I to have travelled the rouged path of searching for answers and in the process, have gathered some interesting facts and knowledge. If nothing else I can be just another fellow sufferer with a listening and understanding ear to others.

Needles to say that English is not my native language but I get by. I write and translate English texts as a small part of my working live so I should be able to provide with some legible text here and there. I’m a part time teacher in design and I used to have my own small catering business. Unfortunately that was no longer possible to maintain given the circumstances so I gave it up. With much regret because next to teaching, cooking is my lust in life!

I think I have quite a story to tell about my struggle with CC and all the complications attached to it. I’ll gladly post the whole story in a different topic but be warned! It s a lengthy story about a complicated medical history and it’s far from finished. And yes it includes all the standard scenario issues such as; lack of understanding, ignorant and hard-headed specialists, the DIY part of getting your diagnoses confirmed, the ‘what the h is going on’ factor and all the other stuff that most of you have probably endured. But saying that, every story is unique and mine is certainly somewhat bizar!

Welcome Hans. Your English is pretty darn good!
Would love to hear your story. How long have you had MC and are your symptoms under control now?
Since you love to cook, that probably helps a lot with preparing foods for your special case.
Read some posts and you'll get a good idea of what info we have shared and discovered.
Keep in touch

Hi Hans,

Welcome to the board. You're correct — having this disease often leads to some very unusual experiences. I have a hunch that if we could combine all our experiences into a book, it would make some very interesting reading. It would include every emotion known to mankind, ranging from heart-wrenching sadness and empathy, to comedy and sidesplitting laughter, at the other extreme.

We have several other members from the Netherlands, but they seldom post, anymore. Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
