Can Celiac Disease CAUSE microscopic and collagenous colitis

Post by nancylynnsmith »

I've been living with MC off and on for 15 years. I found out my dad tested positive for celiac later in his life. Can celiac acgtually cause MC?

Hi Nancy,

Welcome to the board. Yes, untreated or under-treated celiac disease can cause MC, because any form of enteritis, especially chronic enteritis, can lead to the development of MC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
