Gin Soaked Raisins for Arthritis

Post by garina »

Has anyone tried this for osteoarthritis? I'm looking for a remedy to try (no drugs) and found this on The People's Pharmacy.

I would like to try this, but Gin evidently is made from gluten grains, however, it being distilled, would it be gluten free? The People's Pharmacy did an analysis on how much Gin would be in the 9 raisins you would eat a day, and it was one drop, but still ...

Thanks,

Hi Garina,

Gin is gluten-free. The distillation process does not transfer any gluten (absolutely none).

I had never heard of that treatment, so I know nothing about it's effectiveness for treating anything.

I tried this about 10 years ago when I first noticed osteoarthritis, before I got MC. It didn't help me. I take glucosamine chondroitin now. That has helped a lot.

:iagree: I've been taking it for about 12 years, along with flax seed oil.

Tex,

Thanks for clarifying the Gin issue for me. For many years now, I have been taking glucosamine/sulfate which has helped tremendously, but lately, it's not working as well. So, that's why I am seeking another route, at least, for a while. The Gin/raisins combination seems simple enough, so I'm willing to try it for a while. I'm really not a Gin fan, however.

Martha,

How long did you try the Gin method before you realized it wasn't going to work? I thought I would give it 6-8 weeks, which is what I read. MSM is supposed to work, and I also bought some of that but haven't tried it, yet.
Thanks.

Garina,

I don't remember how long I tried the raisins, but it wasn't as long as 6 weeks. Perhaps I didn't give it enough of a chance. It'll be interesting to hear what your experience is, if you decide to try it.

I've tried it too but don't think for a full six weeks. I think I stopped after the first jar ran out. I didn't notice anything but they tasted good!
