Back on Entocort after a 4 month remission

Post by coryhub »

Hi Everyone,

Last time, I went 6 months in remission but this time only 4 months. I know it's my own fault as I indulged over Thanksgiving in foods I shouldn't have. D and gut ache got so bad that this weekend I decided to go back on Entocort through the holidays. No use beating myself up. The medicine gave me instant relief and with so many Xmas events to attend I'm glad I surrendered. I know that New Year's will be a new start. Friends and family are beginning to give me Gluten-free foods for Xmas gifts. I had a deliver come with soups, pastas, bread mixes etc. I couldn't appreciate anything more. No one said this was going to be easy. Hope everyone is more disciplined over the Holidays with diet than I.
Happy Holidays!
Cory

Sorry to hear that you are having a relapse. I am back sliding a bit, but not bad enough to go back to the drugs. I know also that I am probably eating things that my gut doesn't like. The other night I ate half a polish sausage. It had nothing in the ingredients that was a red flag, but I paid for that one! Luckily, it only takes a day or two usually to get back to an OK place. I just feel as if my gut is just more sensitive now then a month or two ago.
I hope this ( being back on Entocort) allows you to have a nice holiday season Cory.

Sorry to hear this Cory, but probably a smart thing to do to get on the Entocort to settle things down so you can enjoy the holidays. I've already figured out that the holidays will be rough as I overindulged a little over Thanksgiving as well. Probably not the best time for me to get off the Pepto....so this will be a big test.

And thanks for the reminder that even though we have been in remission for some time, we can never cheat or over do it. I think I will refrain from eating anything new for now.

Let us know how you do after the holidays are over.

BTW, my husband and I received a Swiss Colony red velvet cake from our friends via mail. I just wanted to cry. First, because I couldn't have any and second, because they know my condition and sent it anyway. Really ticked me off. Enjoy your GF goodies!

Take care,
Terri

Cory,
Sorry to hear about your setback.

I just wanted to comment on other people getting our GF condition. Sorry Terri, I would have been a bit ticked off too.

Last night we had dinner at my daughters and a couple of her usual dishes she made sure some were made seperately and GF. It's not easy when you're feeding a big crowd, but she did a great job.

Leah: I love sausage and wonder how you could eat just 1/2. Sausage is gluten-free but the grease and fat gives us trouble.

Terri: I'll let you know how the holidays go. I'm going to stay on the Entocort for 3 weeks only - that's all I can afford. I had success doing this once before. Red velvet cake would surely tempt a person. I have a Xmas 'Cookie' Party next weekend and hope I can refrain.

Hi Cory,
Sorry to hear this - it is a bummer really! Hopefully the entecort will kick in quickly and you recover in time for Christmas!

Hi Cory,

If you think you'll need a little extra I have 28 pills left of my generic Entocort (budesonide). Let me know if it would help you out. Brandy.

Cory,

Sorry you had to go back on entocort after such a successful run without it. However, your attitude is great - you know what you're doing and are willing to deal with the consequences - good for you. Entocort seems to be a good safety net to fall back on.

Wishing you a happy, stress free, and D free holiday season!!!

Love,
Kari

Hi Cory,

I am in the same boat you are in. I started entocort again the week before Thanksgiving and 11 months of GF/DF diet. I received enterolab results that week and stopped eggs and soy(which was very little). I cannot not get the colon under control and I hate taking drugs. My goal is the same as yours get through the holidays and I will probably do the elimination diet. All this hard work for 11 months makes me upset that I am back to square one with no diet cheating unless by accident!

I keep asking myself why? But I will have my tooth fillings checked I think all mine were replaced.
