3 years - 3 magical years
I am preparing for another lot of dental surgery (more drilling and sawing of my jaw) which wont be easy as i am unable to have any painkillers due to my current kidney bp issues, I will post this message a week early.....
at the 3 year anniversary of MC dx, i am feeling quite blessed.
I have learnt more about myself in the past 3 years than I did the previous 40
i have met and befriended some amazing people into my life that i would not have had the chance to unless for MC and this forum.
I learnt what patience and tenacity really is, non attachment, putting my energies into the things i can change and accepting what is.
I also learnt and now can calmly accept that i cant always be in control and my days wont always go as planned
the past 12 months the MC seems to be the least of my worries, other heath issues have become the priority.
I had spent quite a bit of time and energy researching inflammation, toxicity, immune system, trying to find the why. Spending time and any spare money getting treatments trying to cleanse and reverse the damage, sort of undo what is there. What i have come to realise is knowing the why doesnt always give you the way to fix it or reverse the damage that is there.
Like a storm created by mother nature, we cant stop the lightening, the hail, the heavy rain, the winds from occurring, but we can risk manage and protect, minimise any impact, bunker down and stay safe while it passes.
In the past months i have slowed down/stopped with the research and the treatments. I am what i am, the immune system/adrenals/organs are what they are and given the damage or state they are in, there is limited scope to fix them or make them perfect again.
As i did when it was just MC, focusing on low inflammation, low histamine, healing, eating plan/lifestyle is the best thing i can do for my whole body. Support it, nurture it, accept it. Make the most of every day the best you can.
to anyone struggling or new, listen to your body, it sends very clear messages, that most tests or doctors can not translate. keep a journal you will see the patterns and messages, use google there is a wealth of information on the net that will help explain what is going on.
to all that have been part of my journey thus far, heartfelt thanks for your support and friendship, it has been and is invalueable.
as I may not be online that much over the next couple of weeks I will share my holiday message now, every happiness to all for the holiday season and good health and good times for the new year.
in closing..... some of my recent photography efforts.
love and hugs

Gabes,
First, your photos are beautiful.
It sounds like you will be going through a tough time and I can only wish you the best, keep you in my prayers, and hope it turns out not to be as bad as you think it will be. You have such an amazing outlook on life and your situation, reading it can only help all of us to look at ourselves in a different light.
Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery.
Lots of hugs and good wishes coming your way.
Nancy

Gabes,
Gorgeous photos!
I love the line you wrote:
....but we can risk manage and protect, minimize any impact, bunker down and stay safe while it passes.
That resounds with me this week.
I'm sorry to hear that you have another issue outside of LC to contend with. I hope and pray your kidney BP (I'm guessing this means biopsy) turns out okay.
Thanks for the holiday wishes and a big hug back!
Cory

Oh Gabes, your post got me all choked up. I LOVE your attitude - acceptance goes a long way towards enjoying one's life, whatever that might be. So sorry you will have to endure yet another tough procedure. But as they say, this too shall pass.
I'm also finding that the road to healing is filled with twists and turns, and just as I feel on top of the world, another obstacle appears. But that is the nature of life itself, isn't it??? When I look at what many other people are enduring, my ailments pale in comparison. However, they are MY ailments, and I need to take care of them to the best of my ability, which is exactly what you seem to be doing with such amazing grace.
I wish you all the best in this next chapter of your journey - my heart goes out to you. LOVE the pictures!!!
Love and hugs,
Kari

Hi Gabes,
That's a beautifully-written post, and you closed it with some truly beautiful and inspiring photographs.
I totally agree with you that acceptance and understanding are the keys not only for being able to deal with health issues, but they also pave the way for being able to truly appreciate life in general, and especially the realization of happiness in our life.
I wish all the best for you as you deal with these issues, and we'll be anxiously awaiting your updates whenever you feel up to posting again.
Take care of yourself Gabes. You're our diamond from the land down under.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Cory,
Gabes is having a problem with elevated blood pressure that appears to be due to a kidney issue.

Gabes,
Blessings do come in strange disguises sometimes, don't they. I couldn't agree more with your words.
Sorry to hear you need more dental surgery, especially at the holidays. Hoping for an uneventful recovery and that you get to enjoy a bit of the holiday season. Praying that 2013 brings improvements in your health.
Hugs,
Mary Beth

Morning Gabes,
I do wish you all the best on your surgery and totally understand what you are going through with it since I had to undergo some of the same after the accident that really injured the lower part of my jaw and teeth.
Your post was very inspirational and I too have adopted the philosophy that it is time to stop driving myself nuts with research article after research article and accept my body for what it is and eat right and hopefully, all will at least stay the same and not get any worse.
The pictures were wonderful and do hope I can get to meet you someday.
Happy and Joy filled holidays.
Love, Maggie

Gabes,
I think you are wise to focus on acceptance. In a memoir I read recently written by a Tibetan monk and scholar who escaped Tibet when the Chinese invaded it he says "There are some things, some sickness for example, that one simply has to work through by suffering them. While other people assume that there must always be a cure, a solution, Tibetans will say that some sufferings have to be endured; there is no cure or treatment that will fix the situation. That probably seems like a strange perspective, but that is how we see it. In the West it seems that people assume that everything can be fixed, and that there must always be a solution." (from "Like a Waking Dream" by Geshe Lhundub Sopa). Tibetan medicine, not surprisingly, is mind body medicine.
I hope your dental work is successful and that the pain is not too bad.

What a wonderful post Gabes! I felt your pain, your hopes and your generosity.
You said one word that resonated with me: acceptance. I dealt with it may years ago, as a kid actually and young adult when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I fought it for years thinking that I was the one that could reverse it. Then one day I laid down my arms and surrendered. I accepted that my body wasn't perfect, that my genetic make-up was flawed and that the best thing I could do is accept it as it is, warts and all. It's been easier ever since. Life is like a river, it flows.
I wish you the best. You've got our collective hearts with you.
We love you and think of you.
