Hi C!

Just wondering......do you have a place to walk where you can poop whenever you need to? I am lucky to have a trail nearby that goes thru the woods where I can poop behind a tree if I need to. I agree that exercise keeps us sane.

Hugs,

Polly

Oh my...I can't tell you how many times I did that BRAT diet over the last few years. It would often help so when it didn't at all 8 months ago I knew something was up. I would have to hit the Imodium for the D to go away.

Gluten sensitivity is known to cause headaches....mine went away as well.

If you are still having D you may want to give up the Gatorade. I often drank it because I felt like I was getting dehyrated but it made my D worse. That stuff is loaded with sugar. I do much better on a low sugar diet along with 100% GF/DF. I do fine with green tea but I'd be concerned about the little bit of lactose in the kefir or even more concerning, the Casein (milk protein) in the Kefir. That would definitely set me off.

Glad you are feeling better! Keep staying away from beans and salads for now.

Hope you can get back to all those miles again!

Glad to be of help. Watch out for the gatorade. It can give some of us D.
It sounds like you've had LC for a while now. It also sounds as if gluten was giving you headaches. That happens to my daughter. Gluten can lead to inflammation in many part of our bodies if we are intolerant. I hope you continue to feel better. Keep us posted and try to enjoy your holidays.

Hi Polly
You made me chuckle ~ I haven't had to poo behind a tree, yet, but that is a distinct future possibility! I live in beautiful Bend, Oregon where there are endless outdoor opportunities. We have a tremendous system of trails, as well as many wilderness areas for hiking and snowshoeing, not to mention skiing and snowboarding. There are restrooms placed sporadically along the trail system, but out in the hiking areas they are only located at the trailheads. I haven't had the confidence to venture very far for the past couple of months.

Today was one of those "one step back" kind of days. All kinds of D for no particular reason. I will eliminate the Gatorade tomorrow. Tracked down gluten and dairy free vitamin supplements today. Apparently it is difficult to find soy free as Vitamin E is derived from soy. Also not wild about silica, but that is the binding agent in most vitamins. Wish it would work as a binding agent for me :)

A couple things I've noticed in other postings, which I have experienced for a long time, and never attributed to diet:

Migraine headaches
Arthritis-type joint pain, particularly wrists and knees
Mouth (canker) sores
Extreme dry eye (use Restasis)
Finger splits (use O'Keefe's Working Hands, which works well)
Dry skin and skin issues, skin tags, etc.
Eye color is hazel

Also I was prescribed Acutane two different times, Doxycycline for an extended period, and Oracea (which is a milder form of Doxycycline) for the past several years, all for Rosacea. Doctors never said a word about possible digestive side effects.

Finally, got the Celiac blood test results today and it was negative. Plan to do the testing through Enterolab in a week or two. Seeing a naturopath/acupuncturist next week!

Hi Leslie!

Glad I could make you laugh! We always joke here that we know the location of every public restroom within a 10-15 mi. radius. But we REALLY DO. I have also learned always to carry kleenex with me in case of emergencies. My most embarrassing emergency occurred one day as my hubby and I returned home after eating lunch out. I had to squat beside the car in broad daylight at the entrance to my community when the explosive D hit. No way I could make it another 1/2 mile to my house. (We all know this situation, unfortunately). One of the early pioneers with MC, Judy Malinowski, gets the prize for the most embarrassing story. She writes books about scuba diving, and one day she had to poop in her wet suit. Can you imagine the embarrassment as she peeled it off of herself in front of her dive buddies in the hot sun? Horrors!

You are well on your way with your well-thought-out plans and actions. It is not unusual to take 2 steps forward and then one step back. It's the nature of the beast.

Many of us order our vitamins online from freeda.com. You can find them free of all sensitivities.

I believe that an extended course of doxycycline was what precipitated my MC. Also, I found that my initial arthritis-like aches/pains were more related to dairy than to gluten.

Keep us posted on your progress, please!

Hugs,

Polly
