Grapefruit and drug interactions

Post by maestraz »

I just read this article in the NY Times.
Well.blogs.nytimes/2012/12/17/grapefruit-is-a-culprit

It includes a link to a printable list of drugs that interact badly with grapefruit/grapefruit juice, one of which is budesonide/Entocort, and it tells what characteristic reactions are.
For Entocort, that's hyperglycemia and something called Cushingoid features, whatever that is.

Thanks. We just received a beautiful box of grapefruits at workl. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I guess I can't partake, since I'm on prednisone.

My prescription budesonide has a warning on it to not consume Grapefruit and I'd always wondered why...thanks for this.
