Does anyone know if this will effect MC? I will be going in for shoulder replacement surgery in a few weeks and wanted to take this right after surgery. I took it after my last shoulder surgery and it sure helped.

Hi Nancy,
I had never heard of it, so I looked it up. Do you feel safe taking it orally? You might want to read the information at the link below. I've quoted a small part of it:
Be very careful with the dose/dilution.

http://www.healthline.com/natstandardcontent/arnicaArnica montana is commonly used in herbal ointments and oils applied on the skin as an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving agent for aches, bruises, and sprains on unbroken skin. Highly diluted homeopathic preparations are considered safe and are widely used for the treatment of injuries. However, full doses of arnica may be toxic when taken by mouth. Arnica may also be damaging to the heart, resulting in high blood pressure.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has declared arnica an unsafe herb due to adverse effects reported when taken by mouth. In contrast, the German market offers over 100 preparations of arnica to its consumers. In Canada, arnica is not allowed for use as a non-medicinal ingredient for oral (by mouth) use products.
Be very careful with the dose/dilution.

Tex,
Thanks for the information. I have taken it in the past when I had shoulder surgery with no problems. Actually, when I had that surgery I only took one pain pill. It comes highly recommended by the owner of the health food store I go do. She just didn't have any information on how a person with MC might react. I mentioned it to the Nurse Practitioner at New England Baptist in Boston where I will be having the surgery and she was aware of it. So now I will double check with my acupuncturist who is also a registered pharmacist.
I will only be taken it short term, which is only a few days. It is used a lot for dental pain.

Hi nancy
I use the arnica topical cream. I have not used the sub lingual tablets
maybe do a test run this week, half a tablet a day and see how you go, and work up to a 1 or 2 tablets a day by the surgery date
hope you had a wonderful xmas with the family, and your relaxation/guided meditation preparation for the surgery is going well
take care

Great idea Gabes. I am going to give that a try. Our Xmas was wonderful, everyone was here.
I have all my meditation music ready to go and have been listening to some. I don't think they will give me a lot of time to relax, it sounds like I will be in physical therapy a few times every day while I'm there. This is a crazy week with appointmens and a lot to do to prepare for after the surgery. Next week will be quieter and I hope to do more meditation and I have an appointment with my accupuncturist, which should also help.
