Wow, Zizzle...that Pepto did more than I thought! I still keep that wonder drug in my purse just in case! I find its weak antacid properties to work quite well on me also.

Welcome Birdlover!
Much has already been said but I thought I would add in a few additional thoughts! I was diagnosed in 2004 but only found this site a few months back during another major flare! I always carry Imodium - as Tex has said - it enables me to cope with normal life when I'm in flare but it doesn't fix it! I have been on budesonide since July (9mg/day) and went GF about 6 weeks ago. I also came off Asacol - and there was a significant improvement then. But going GF I saw improvement in 4 days! Obviously I am on steroids and my Doctor intends keeping me on them for sometime yet (I have a very enlightened Doctor) and they are free for me courtesy of the UK NHS! I was tested recently for Coeliac which came back negative but my reaction to going GF is so dramatic I have no doubt in my mind that I am sensitive! I am not finding the diet difficult - I enjoy cooking and just do a lot of batch cooking and then freezing portions so I have variety and a ready supply! Whether I am sensitive to other foods probably won't show until I am off the steroids but I'll cross that bridge as and when!
This site is so good because everyone here knows what you are going through! It does get easier! And definitely get Tex's book!!

Pepto
Thanks you guys telling me more about the Pepto. I went back on that today. I have to admit that I don't give things enough time and need to develop patience! This time I'll keep going with it and wait patiently :)
