Thank you for your email. Cal-Citrate Plus D, Vitamin D3 1000 and 3000 IUs and Glucosamine do not contain any soy. The natural vitamin E used in our Geri-Freeda is derived from natural vegetable oils including soybean oil. Through processing, there is no soy remaining in the final product. If you are very sensitive to soy, you may have a reaction to the natural vitamin E.
I can feel confident about the calcium, vitamin D and glucosamine, but I question whether their multiple vitamin (Geri-Freeda) truly is free of soy. I'm not sure that processing removes the soy in the final product. I question whether any vitamin e, made from any manufacturer, can be free of soy, since all vitamin e seems to derived from it.

I have a hunch that you're correct, unfortunately. One would think that since soy is a well known allergen (it's one of the big 8), by now someone would have figured out that they need to use a different feedstock for vitamin E supplements.

Pure Encapsulations is sold by Pure Formulas which is a distributor. They do not manufacture their own supplements which means any of their products could be made in any of a number of manufacturing facilities, which may or may not meet GMP's. As the vitamin industry is not regulated, they can say pretty much what they want to about the ingredients in their supplements and while they are most likely being honest and above board, there is no way to be certain unless you have the supplements tested by a lab.

The only labeling requirements that the FDA imposes on them (and all pharmaceuticals) is that the label must specify the active ingredient/s, and the amount and total percentage of each active ingredient, and the total percentage of inactive ingredients in the product. That's all — anything else is voluntary, and not subject to oversight. There is no requirement that they must list individual inactive ingredients, allergens, or anything else — only the information about the active ingredients must be accurate.
And as you point out, the ingredients, and in many cases, the finished products themselves, are outsourced. How much attention are they likely to devote to minor details when they are at the mercy of suppliers who also have no FDA requirements to regulate anything other than the active ingredients in any product. The integrity of most of these products boils down to a matter of trust, faith, and just plain luck. About all we can do is hope that what the label says is correct, and rely on past experiences with various companies.

"Pure Formulas" seems to be a distributor of various supplements including their own brand called "Pure Formulas" as well as the "Pure Encapsulations" brand. Pure Encapsulations supplements are carried by a lot of distributors. I take a few Pure Encapsulation products. They seem pretty trustworthy and they don't fill their products with a lot of unnecessary ingredients. Of course there is always a possibiity that they are less than honest but it doesn't seem that way to me.
Our products do not contain wheat, gluten, nuts, egg, or hydrogenated oils.
But soy is not in that list.
