Sorry to have been away again...... and welcome to all the new members. (I have a lot of catching up to do ... 1600 new posts and 41 new members!)
I have been traveling (mainly in the UK for 2 months) and I am now finally back in Hong Kong.
My MC is still largely under control with diet and Entocort on average one every 2 or 3 days.
The reason for my absence on the board has been a stressful holiday period, especially given my mother's worsening dementia and physical condition. Also, I have had a set back with my apartment in Thailand, that by now I was hoping to enjoy. I was told that I probably will not be able to move into it for another 9 months. But the good news is, work is still keeping me busy.
Anyway I just wanted to say I am still around and will try and spend some time reading posts over the next few days.
It's good to see a post from you. I've been wondering how you've been doing.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother's worsening dementia and general health, and the setback on your apartment construction. I'm glad that your MC symptoms are remaining under decent control, though. That's worth a lot.

So sorry your mother's condition is worsening and I am sure it is more than stressful. Also, hope the apartment beats the 9-month mark and is ready for you sooner.

Thanks for your concern about my Mum. I know there is not much I can do. We have to accept the cycle of life.
Three pieces of better news:
1. Norma (female for "Norman") has visited me for two weeks without even one day of WD. I am not going to take another Entocort until Norma suggests she is leaving (I know how to read the signals). This has co-insided with me adding Glutamine supplements to my Vit D, Folic Acid, Vit B and Iron supplements. Lets see what happens next.
2. I dropped a piece of furniture on my foot two days ago and a few hours later woke up in pain. This was a real stress event but xrays showed no fracture... and within I day I was not hobbling and not in any pain. After all my osteoporosis fears (especially tacking Entocort) I feel positive about this.
3. A pub/restaurant in Hong Kong that I have a share in has just launched and is looking successful. It is called The Limestone Arms (and, of course, can serve safe meals for MCers). If any PPers come to Hong Kong let me welcome you!
That's not only better news, but outstanding news.
I would have thought that food sensitivities would be somewhat rare in a place such as Hong Kong, but I admit to having no knowledge of the ethnic mix in the population there.

Welcome back!!! It's so nice to "see you" back here. I'm so sorry about your mom. Dementia is such a heart breaking disease to deal with for everyone involved. I've witnessed my next door neighbor deteriorate from a vibrant, healthy man, to a shadow of his former self .
So glad to read about your better news. I tried glutamine once, and it didn't work for me, but I know many people here have great success with it. Hope Norma sticks around for you. Lots of luck with your restaurant project - it sounds exciting .

No worries. Actually my mum does have a wonderful daughter (my sister) who lives near her. It is my sister who takes most of the responsibility when I am not in UK.
Good to hear an update from you and that norma is hanging around. Your restaurant sounds fabulous and I bet it has a nice wine list:) I know you have been dealing with your mom's declining health for quite some time. Speaking from experience I know how hard that can be where you live in different places.

A little story about Christmas day with my mum. I booked a restaurant (can you imagine..... with her dementia and my dietary needs!). They were good enough to specially cater for me within the set meal and also charge my Ma a "child's price" - she eats like a sparrow (accept for ice cream which she guzzles.... and why not!! ).
Anyway, she was on antibiotics and was not allowed any alcohol, but a bottle of campaign was included in the "set"....... So, as instructed by me to the waitresses (who were very sweet and understood the theater that was needed), fizzy apple juice in a champagne glass for her and the real stuff for me. She thought it was one of the best champagnes she ever had...... and luckily I have a "strong head".
Cute story, Ant. We used to joke that we could send my mother the same Christmas card every year and she'd never know the difference. When I think about it, I bet that's true for all of us!
