Acupuncture? And other possible solutions.

Post by amberlink09 »

I'm nearly recovered from surgery now and have spent a lot of my time in bed reading up on diet and supplements and everything. I also decided that I might try acupuncture for a while, I work directly next to a place that has really cheap sessions for students, I've been a few times but never consecutively and if nothing else it is extremely relaxing! So I think I'm going to start going every week or two, whatever they recommend. In addition I will also be keeping a food and water log, sticking to paleo strictly and cutting out potatoes and sweet potatoes, and trying to limit my sugar intake to about a teaspoon in my coffee in the mornings. I'm also adding probiotics, enzymes, and glutamine to my daily supplements. All of these are things that have made me feel better at some point or another, so maybe if I commit and combine them all I can finally fix my stomach issues. And who knows? Maybe the acupuncture will help with all of the pain I've been having. I think I'll give this plan a month, and if I'm still not seeing results I'll move onto an elimination diet.

Hi Amber

I am seeing a ND for acupuncture and it has helped a lot. She has me putting a compress on my abdomen each night and it seems to be helping with pain and relaxing me to sleep. It is about 4 layers of plain flannel material sewn together and you saturate that with castor oil. Lay that on your abdomen and place a hot water bottle over the top and hold in place or you can tie a towel around all of it. I lay in bed, but I cover everything with beach towels because the oil does stain. She also has me on mega dose of accidophillous and that seems to be helping immensely with the D. It sounds like you have a good plan - keep us updated!
