I just had some lab work done and am still trying to figure out this whole thyroid thing.
I have been on NDT since June and am up to 4.25 grains and am feeling the best in a long while.
My TPO was 6 in a range of 0-34 and my TgAB was 60 in a range of 0-40. My ALT was elevated at 44 (range 0-32). AST was okay
while my cholesterol had dropped nearly 40 points and was at 200 (HDL 80). I did the free t3/reverse t3 ratio and it was okay.
I plan to post on the thyroid page but would welcome your input. Deb

Deb,
I'm not Tex but all of the lab values from the tests my GP ordered were within normal ranges. I finally went to a doctor over 800 miles from where I live that treated my low thyroid. I had many of the symptoms of low thyroid. Now that I'm taking thyroid medication, I feel great.
Take care,

Hi Deb,
Well, your Thyroglobulin antibody level suggests Hashimoto's thyroiditis. And thyroid disease can cause slightly elevated ALT levels.
If you have Hashimoto's, then treating it (with thyroid hormone, as you are doing) will tend to lower your cholesterol level (Hashimoto's thyroiditis raises cholesterol levels).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
