What now?

Post by christinakay »

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with CC this past December. I got my Enterolab results back, so I know what not to eat. Egg was one of my main sensitivities(which really surprised me) along with gluten, dairy and soy. I have been doing very well eating protein, rice, and a few cooked vegetables. Tomorrow I drop down to 4mg of Entocort. Not too concerned with the lower dosage. Back ache is pretty much gone, but the headaches come and go. Energy level is not where I want it to be yet. My questions are: what can I have as snacks (fresh fruits and cheese are out and rice cakes all the time are not making it) , how long should I wait before adding foods to my diet? I am so glad I found this support group. Everyone has helped me so much, such a wealth of information I have gotten. Thanks, Christina

healing can take a while - for some 3 months for other 12 months. so the timing to introduce new foods depends on how your healing process is going.
be patient and dont rush it, the craving to try something new and introduce something can cause a flair.

snack wise here are some things that I do (I am GF/YF/DF/SF i havent eaten salad for 3 years and only had minimal amts of fruit in 3 years and I work full time)

- gabe safe biscuits with cooked chicken
- soda bread (home made)
- rice protein shake mix this with coconut milk or almond milk
- apple sauce

hope this helps

Have you tried corn products? When I went down to 3mg. a day on Entocort is when I started to "test" foods, but it really is up to you as to when you try things. When you do, just make sure you only do one at a time and space them a few days apart. I asked you about corn because I do snack on corn chips ( as long as they don't use canola oil. not good for me), but Lundgren's rice chips are also very yummy. I also eat Kind coconut/almond bars when I need something to eat on the go. Everything in moderation though. If potatoes are ok for you, then small amounts of potato chips might be OK. I also can tolerate tree nuts, so I eat almonds, cashews and Pecans, but each nut needs to be tested separately.

Glad to hear that you are doing so well. If going down to one pill a day is too quick, remember you can do alternate between one and two per day until your body adjusts.

Keep us posted

Cinnamon rice checks or honey nut corn checks aren't bad to pop in your mouth. Even corn chips or corn tortillas that you brush with oil and bake with salt or your choice of seasoning is good. I eat olives and pickles in the movies and I peel apples and slice them(if you can tolerate them). You can cook the apples in a bit of water if you need them soft. If you tolerate sugar you can buy fruit gummy candy at Costco that has relatively few ingredients and is soy free. A piece of "safe" deli ham rolled around a sweet pickle isn't bad.
Hope that helps.
