Is Meniere's an autoimmune disease? My husband has had it for years. What rotten genes we have passed on to our children! This is very interesting, Roy that when your symptoms of one autoimmune get exacerbated, the other one calms down some. Still...I don't think my husband would want to add our colitis to his problems with hearing. He has all he can handle as it is.
I think that I proved another one of Tex's theories right this weekend. I got some news on Friday that was very stressful--something that I could do nothing about and made me feel absolutely powerless. I thought that I had handled it and though, I was unhappy about it, I had accepted it for what it was. However, on Saturday morning, I woke up thinking about it, was angry over the injustice of it all, and noticed that my joints had started to hurt the way they were hurting last month and I started having more pain (spasms) and cramping. Fortunately, I have not had any D, but certainly more frequent stools, which could also be from the apricots that I ate to try to get rid of the constipation I had. This tells me that Tex is right--there is a direct correlation between our reaction to stress and our flares. Fortunately, I was able to find some relief from my stress by discussing it with a friend who knew the situation and through some meditation.

Hi Jane,
We were both posting at the same time. I posted a couple of links to both an abstract and the full research article that discusses an autoimmune connection. You might find the article informative.
I'm sorry that you found yourself in a position to test my theory, but that was definitely an interesting outcome, and I appreciate the feedback. I just wish that I could figure out a way to control stress. Unfortunately, it seems to be almost omnipotent in it's power over us at times.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
