Great Primary Care Doc

Post by birdlover3 »

Yesterday went to see my primary care physician taking along Tex's book. I was so pleased that he is a doctor that will actually WORK WITH his patients on figuring out things. I shared with him some things I learned and he's willing to help me. He wrote an order yesterday for the selective IgA test that Tex talked about and is also willing to help me with the Enterolab if necessary!!!! (hoping maybe if I need that, his help may be influential for insurance)

I'm trying to wean myself off Cymbalta (not easy let me tell you) but he's always there for me to help me out.

Right now taking the Generic Endocort (Budenoside) and am almost 3 weeks into it with absolutely astonishing results. Only thing is that I'm twitchy and irritable...not sure whether it's the Cymbalta withdrawal or the Budenoside causing it (twitches) but need to ride through the storm.

Anyway, glad that there are physicians that are willing to work with us.... looking for some advice on WHEN I should think about weaning off the Budenoside. I also PM'd Tex who I'm sure will respond. I have read the information in the book about not going off too soon, but already have Osteoporosis so bone density is really an important thing for me.

Happy girl! (when I'm not aggitated ;)

I have spent the last year weaning myself off of Cymbalta. The last 9 months I have stepped down 30 mg at a time. I no longer take it but have taken as much as a 180 mg dose daily. My doctor worked with me also.

It can be difficult but you can do it!

I too have enlightened Doctors! It is so helpful and I am developing a really good relationship with them! They like the fact that I am proactive and not prepared to just accept this disease. I am also passionate about not abusing our wonderful NHS! So many do and we are so lucky to have it! I am a great believer that we should take responsibility for our own health - my doctors realise this and it does make for a great relationship!

It is good to know that I am not alone in having great doctors - I am really pleased for you!

Thanks Anne and Brenda,

I was only taking 70mg a day of Cymbalta so it won't take me near as long to wean off. I think I'm actually clear now since I have survived this long although my nerves sometimes are at my wit's end.

Brenda, Write me PM concerning your experiences. Did you twitch while weaning off or experience moodiness/aggitation? I'm anxious to hear from you.

Birdlover,

I see that you're in Illinois, too. Do you live in Chicago, in a suburb, or elsewhere? I live in a north suburb. I'm curious because you're the first person from Illinois (that I know of) who has been pleased with your GI. You'd think that good MC doctors would be plentiful here, but I haven't found one.
