Does anyone here soak raw nuts in salt water, then dry in a warm oven to improve digestibility? I've only soaked cashews to make cashew cream.
I plan to to this, as I'm sitting on a pile of raw nuts that hubby wants to roast with an herb mix.

soaking nuts..
Z.,
I heard people do that with almonds to get the skin off so they can digest them better and not react to them...never tried it...I understand the skins have something to do with difficulty to digest...

Zizzle,
Mary Beth has a post about Dr. Fine's habit of soaking nuts to make them more digestible (since nuts are apparently a major part of his diet). Her post is number 8 in this thread.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Ziz,
I've been doing nut soaking and roasting for about 3 months. I rinse my nuts after soaking per Dr Fines instructions. I saw the video did not mention rinsing. Sometimes I just eat nuts soaked--probably the easiest for digestion. I added the salt per your video's instruction and the salt adds much better flavor. Regarding drying in oven....I've never dried them for 12 hours. Generally I pull mine out in 1-4 hours depending on what I have going on. Bon Appetit! Brandy
Note to Newbies--stay clear of nuts, even soaked nuts, for a good long while. Nuts are like shards of glass in our digestion system.
