Statistics from data in EnteroLab food test results
Hi Everyone
I'm new to the group. I was trying to research the good and the bad of food and wanted to see if I could pull some stats.
With a suggestion from Tex, I used the EnterLab food test results to pull these numbers and thought some of you may find it useful.
I have a few pointed questions regarding my personal health but will put in a new topic.
The basic results to the numbers I crunched are:
83 people where tested for Anti-gliadin. Of the 83 tested, 76 had higher than normal units. that is 92% of those tested
47 people where tested for Anti-tissue. Of the 47 tested, 38 had higher than normal units. that is 81% of those tested
82 people where tested for Anti-cesein (cow's milk). Of the 82 tested, 53 had higher than normal units. that is 65% of those tested
59 people where tested for Anti-ovalburmin (Chicken eggs). Of the 59 tested, 25 had higher than normal units. that is 42% of those tested
31 people where tested for Anti-saccaromyces (Dairy Yeast). Of the 31 tested, 11 had higher than normal units. that is 35% of those tested
65 people where tested for Anti-soy. Of the 65 tested, 45 had higher than normal units. that is 69% of those tested
51 people where tested for fat score. Of the 51 tested, 13 had higher than normal units. that is 25% of those tested
So I am going to take a guess, that I am most like Gluten and maybe Dairy intolerant.
Thanks
Tara

Thanks for the summary, Tara. I'm surprised that soy tested higher than casein. I'm also surprised that eggs are fairly high. Sometimes I've felt a little lonely in my egg intolerance. So many GF recipes call for eggs, and an egg substitute doesn't always cut it.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Hi Gloria.
Dont forget when you read the results not as many people were tested for the egg or soy, therefore one could assume that more people who suspected and egg or soy intolerance got that test done which would bring the percentage up. It is possible/likely if all 80+ people had been tested for these items, your thinking would have been reflected and the percentage would have dropped.
Unfortunately there is no way to know for sure.

thanks for taking the time to do the stats
when i was first Dx'd i couldnt afford Enterlab - and mentally did something similar to you.
based on the results of majority of the board, i elminated Gluten, Dairy, Nuts, Salad, raw fruit, beans etc.
I knew yeast was already a no no for me, and soy made itself known as a major trigger very quickly (and was no surprise given how others were reating)
to date i have not tried to add alot of foods back in. I am quite happy with my eating plan.
once the gut has healed a fair bit, it is not hard to test foods and figure out if I can tolerate them. via a food journal i am able to ascertain if they can be everyday foods, or have them lsss ie every 2 - 3 days
