Off Entocort 8 weeks with Normans

Post by mzh »

What exactly might this mean? My last Entocort was Jan 7 but I've had Normans since about October 15 after a very long tapering off period. Do I dare celebrate something?

Hi mzh,
That is good news indeed. You have achieved remission of 2 months and counting. You are doing something right. Definitely celebrate and treat yourself to an extra GF treat, maybe some coconut milk ice cream if you can tolerate it.
Congrats!

Congratulations! Whatever you are doing is working. After a few more weeks, you could probably test some of the "irritant" foods you have taken out to see if you are still reacting. :) Yay!

That's great news!!! Whatever you're doing, keep it up. It does seem humorous that eating food should be scary but I know exactly how you feel. Thanks for sharing the good parts of your MC.

My only complaint is that I get rather flatulent mainly in the afternoon and evening. Haven't figured that out yet....

That's probably associated with the undigested fiber from those salads fermenting in your colon.

How long might that stay in the gut? I have salad maybe twice a week.

If you have normal motility, approximately 28–30 hours, but it can be significantly longer for some people, especially if they have C. And when sizable populations of those particular bacteria are present, they probably subsist between "salad feedings" by fermenting other forms of fiber. Most vegetables should do in a pinch.

Congrats!! I'm a lot like you except I took Pepto. All Norms since early September, absolutely no Pepto since early-January and still having Norms. I did celebrate a little with some chocolate bars and had no issues. Glad to hear you can do a salad! I have added some food including kidney beans and doing well. Salad is next on my list. Just add things in slowly.

So happy to hear when someone is doing so well without the meds! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the salad info, Tex. Lately, I've been constipated - now that's something I never thought I'd ever say again. LOL

Terri, glad to hear you're getting better too. I hope it lasts for both of us.

I know what you mean about the gas. I am doing well, but almost always wake up in the morning with excess Gas. Sugar could be the culprit. Sometimes I have a handful of jelly bellies in the evening to curb my sugar cravings.... but not always. hmmmmm

Sugar - never thought of that. I notice I'm worse on cereal days. Just checked and my cereal (Crispex) has malt in it too. Ugh!
