Treated like a queen at a resturant!!!

Post by Jean »

We celebrated my Mom's 80th birthday Saturday. We had a room at Wildfire in the Chicago area. It is a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant. My sister told them I had food intolerances.

We were served family style. When we first got there, the manager and the waitress came over to talk to me. They ask what I was intolerant of, went through the menu item by item and we figured out what I could have. They knew all of the right questions to ask. I was almost embarrassed by the attention. I was served separately.

They said they do at least 100 special meals a week. They do paper work on every intolerance meal. They wear new gloves when they prepare our food and have a separate place to cook it.

I had shrimp sans cocktail sauce, chicken and porttabella mushrooms on skewers, spinach salad with vinegar and oil on the side, salmon and a filet mignon. I have never been treated so well or had such a satisfying meal since discovering all of my intolerances. Even though I was full, I had to eat everything, because I COULD!

If anyone has the opportunity to go to one of the restaurants, DO IT! They are pricey but I would pay double for the experience I had. Their website is www.leye.com. Most of their places are in the Chicago area, but they are also in MD, AZ, CA and more.

Jean,
Happy Birthday to your Mom!!
Sounds like a wonderful restaurant. Send em on down, ok.
Oh, and keep it quiet, the "paying double" part, or they just might take you up on that idea! Ha!
Glad you all had such a great time of it.
Yours, Luce

Treated like a queen!! Wow, how wonderful it sounds - almost like a fairy tale isn't it?!

I had an almost similar experience a few days ago when I was in Atlanta. I discovered almost by accident that one of the little restaurants at the antiques show will prepare your eggs in a seperate skillet cooked in olive oil if you ask. They will even make an omelet with sauteed vegetables - cooked in nothing but olive oil. It was the most amazing thing to actually have fresh cooked scrambled eggs at a restaurant - I was almost in tears. Next month I am going to try their omelet. And I will go back for extras; just because I can!!

Congrats on finding a restaurant that works for you!!!

Love,
Karen

Queen Jean,

What a lovely and unexpected royal treat for you! The meal sounds scrumptous with service to match. Makes my mouth water looking just at the site. I had never heard of Lettuce Entertain You.

I miss eating out too. I'm so glad you were able to enjoy your meal knowing it was safe for you.

Love,
Joanna
