Need recommendatons on GF soap and body lotions

Post by tlras »

Does anyone know of a GF bath soap and body lotion that is GF? I don't think I react to topical gluten but would rather do without. I've always had dry and itchy skin and use Aveeno, but don't think that I should anymore as it really isn't helping much.

Thanks

I'd also like a recommendation of lipstick/gloss that is GF, please.

You should be able to find a few tips here:

Linda....I use GF lipstick/lip balm/lip gloss from Redapple lipstick.com. Sign up and you get 20% off every month. I just got a free lipstick from them last month....always have deals going. Not cheap stuff but worth it. Love it!

Thanks Tex!

I absolutely love Shea Moisture products, and you can find them at Target and a few drugstore chains. However, my primary moisturizer is a body butter I make with coconut oil, jojoba oil and olive oil.

Dr. Bronner's soaps are pure castile soap they are fine and not so drying like some and Burt's Bees products have been ok for me too!! :pigtail:

For me, i had to source products that were Soy Free

coconut soap or goats milk soap (no soy, no perfumes or essential oils)
Coconut oil for moisturiser on my body
Rosehip oil as moisturiser on my face
Lanolin for lip balm and as moisturiser for my hands and feet.

I have made my own lip balm mixing cocoa butter and coconut oil.

none of these are that expensive, if anything they are cheaper. 500grams of coconut oil costs $9.95 and lasts me 3 - 4 months. My health food store does 20% off, the first monday of the month, buying the products on that day makes it very affordable.

you can make home scrubs with the same type of ingredients - coconut oil with some palm sugar or salt makes a great scrub

Terri, Desert essence is gluten-free, available at a discount at Vitacost. Burt's Bees products are gluten free, and they make a nice lip tint as well as great chap sticks.

Gabes, thanks for letting me know. I knew the Burt's Bees products were gluten free and didn't check any further. I haven't noticed any reaction, but I should probably replace it. This disease sure makes life complex!

Thank you all so much! I still need to peruse over this again and see what I can find locally.

I buy lip balm from redapplelipstick.com. There is no soy or gluten in it. I love it!

Also, California Baby (available at Target) has a lotion I can use on my face without a problem, that is unscented, gluten-, preservative- and soy-free. Aveeno was my favorite, but now I seem to react to it. (I'm allergic to soy.)
