Almond butter vs. almond milk

I've had a bit of a relapse and am trying to narrow down the cause. I'm still on mushy veggies (broccoli and cauliflower) meat, and rice. (I'm also still on 6 mg of entercort and 4 peptos a day. Every time I try to reduce, I have problems.) I also drink almond milk and had been eating almond butter. I quit eating almond butter for a while and the past two days, started eating it again and have ended up quite sick. I am wondering if it was the almond butter, the ground beef (as I had been sticking to pork or white fish only until recently, at which time I've added ground beef and chicken.) or the vitamin supplement, which I've had before and didn't think I had an adverse reaction to, but I'm still pretty cautious with supplements, taking one maybe every three days.

Or, it could be I've caught a bug.

I leave for vacation--which will require a 7 hour flight to get there--in two days, and am worried and frustrated to say the least. And I've been on the elimination diet for over six months now and had hoped I'd be able to add more stuff back in by now. In fact, I'd been hoping to reach full health. Even bought running shoes the other night, planning to start training again. Sigh.

So sorry Jennifer that you are flaring. It could be any of the things you have added in. Were you feeling pretty good before you added in? How long did you try each thing before adding the others?

It's curious also that you still have to take 6mg. of Entocort and the Pepto while on such a limited diet ( after six months). Could it be that the Pepto is not doing well in you? I know it gets me sick. Maybe rice is not good for you?

I would take out all the things you have added back in and try to at least get back to where you were before.

Did you ever to Enterolab testing? Panel C might help you figure this out.

I think the Pepto actually helps, and I've actually reduced from 9mg of entercort a day to 6 and from 8 peptos a day to four. I hope the rice is not bad because potatoes were giving me a fair amount of pain and at this point, I'm not sure what else I would eat. So, it's abnormal for healing to take this long? Could it be maybe something else is going on? Although I was doing better, and in fact, had planned to reduce my entercort to 3mg ... before my body rebelled.

Jennifer, I found that I feel best avoiding all starches completely, including white potatoes. Do you think the cauliflower and broccoli might also be giving you problems? They tend to make some people feel bloaty and gassy. I just had soft carrots, and butternut or acorn squash for my veggies at first. Also some chopped soft celery in my chicken soup.

I sure hope you feel better before you leave on your trip!

I don't think the rice is causing me problems as I've been doing fairly well on it, and I can't have fructose (which is in squash and carrots), so without rice, I'm pretty limited. And normally the cauliflower and broccoli is okay, so I don't think that's the problem, but I do know I have to watch the amount of fiber I take in.

But thank your for sharing your experience! It truly could just be a stomach virus. If so, this too shall pass, right? (Well, and even if it's not a virus and is mc related, it will still pass, just perhaps more slowly. ;) )

I'd love to hear from those on the forum who struggled to maintain remission on entercort even after eliminating main allergens, and what they've done.

The only other thing I've changed is I've gone back to having an evening snack whereas previously, upon the suggestion of my GI, wasn't eating anything after 5. Maybe my intestines need the longer rest period. I think I remember reading a thread of someone else who did intermittent fasting and had good results.

Well, either lc is contagious or our entire family has a stomach virus. Because science negates the former, I'm assuming the latter. Not the most pleasant way to start our vacation, but encouraging, nonetheless to know that I haven't relapsed. :bear:

Has anyone else noticed how the members of this board sometimes find the strangest reasons to celebrate? In the general population, no one would be celebrating a stomach virus, but that doesn't apply to us. :lol: We march to the beat of a different drum. :grin:

..... oh and I don't do too well with fructose, but always was fine with sweet potato, butternut squash, and carrots ( love them roasted)
