Okay, I was in Trader Joes today and saw this chocolate at the counter that said it was "mexican style" chocolate. I DOESN'T HAVE SOY LETHICIN! The texture is a bit grainy, but for those who don't tolerate the soy at all.....
And I also discovered that BERTOLLI brand tomato sauce only uses olive oil and has no allergens

Thanks for those tips, Leah. I wish I liked chocolate. I am more of a butterscotch kind of person and there just isn't any help for that---too much sugar! The tomato sauce news is good. I am very glad that I canned so much of my own last summer--even if my son did add bell peppers.
Have you noticed that most tuna has either soy oil or sugar in it? I have to go to the health food store and comb their shelves for decent tuna. A lot of times the pouch types of containers for tuna are even worse with added stuff that many of us can't eat.

Hi Jane. If you have Trader Joes where you live , their brand of albacore tuna packed in water has no soy or sugar. It's what I have always bought for my family.... even though I don't eat tuna often.
I don't know if you eat bacon, but Trader's also has two brands of nitrite free bacon. I love that store. I do about half my grocery shopping there. Their broth in cartons are a good product and a good deal.

Jane, I have found certain varieties of Starkist and Chicken of the Sea tunas that have just tuna, water, and maybe salt. No veggie broth, which can contain soy.
Leah, if you, or others, are inclined to try making your own tomato sauce, I'll post how I make mine. It is easy, and is better than any jar sauce I've tasted, plus you totally control the ingredients. The more you make it, you can fine tune it to your family's taste. I make a big pot maybe once a month. We have a couple meals and I freeze the rest in portions to use with chicken breast, short ribs, etc.

Recently I bought Wild Canned Tuna from Alaska at Costco, only salt and water in the ingredients. I try to buy most of what I eat either Wild or Organic to reduce toxins. Have you noticed that few GF foods are organic?

Yes, I have noticed that few G-F foods are organic. They also tend to replace the gluten with equally offensive (to my gut) ingredients so I have mostly given up trying them. We don't have a Trader Joe's in our town, but we are surrounded by farm country and we have loads of farmers who grass feed pastured animals so the meat we get is safe and superb---IF we can afford it! No nitrites in my bacon, thank you very much!
I think that what I have found with tuna is that even with Starkist or some of the other name brands, I must check it every time because the ingredients change. So irritating!! I try not to buy any fish that is not wild caught.
Even with a lot of care and planning, I am sure that I am polluting my body in some way, but all I can do is the best that I can do. Suze, you might want to add your recipe for tomato sauce to Dee's kitchen so we have it.

Thanks Suze. I'm sure there are plenty here that would like the recipe. I do know how to make sauce ( I went to culinary school), but I still am not sure I will be eating too much tomato sauce. Although when I tried it out, I didn't have D, but it did give me a little pain ( like soreness) for a couple of days :(
Thanks
Leah
Thanks

I got so tired of constipation the other day that I ate an orange and while it did nothing to move anything, it certainly gave me a pain in my gut. Tomatoes, if I get too many do the same.

I think I am the same Jane. Acid foods just don't seem to sit well with me. I use to squeeze lime in my club soda, but that was even bothering me a bit. I have to say that it is pretty easy to not eat these things for me. A least I know that a little tomato in things won't throw me into a flare. That's worth knowing when I am out or at someones house.

My son introduced me to a great GF cook book..."Artisnal Gluten Free Cooking" you can buy it on amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_ ... ee+cooking
It Has the best flour mix I have found. Makes really light fluffy muffins and breads. Currently off of my list because it contains corn starch and my allergy tests say not now. It does contain a small amount of xanthan gum which does not bother me as it does others on this site, but I have made it before without, cuz I didn't have any, and it was still great!!
