Don't know whats going on??
Hi Everyone! I have some more questions....?? I came down with the flu, aches, pains, skin hurt, fever...no vomiting or D, but a horrible headache, and some nausea about a month and a half ago. Before that, I had a severe bladder infection, and was taking Bactrim for that. After I recovered from the flu, I went in and got my flu shot, and the pnuemonia shot. A couple days later, I found out, from my shot swelling up, and the site becoming infected, that I was allergic to the pnuemonia shot, so I was put on cefalexin, or something like that, and Bactrim again. A day after that, I began with the flu symptoms again, which included a fever of 102.7, but only a mild headache. That was last Saturday...in the evening, I developed some bad pains nears my belly button. I thought it was a hernia or my appendex. Sunday morning, when I woke up, my temp. was down to 99.7, but I couln't stand up straight, from the pain in my gut. Still no D or vomiting... a bit constipated from all the meds, I think. Ended up in the ER, and they ran a bunch of tests, and said...not appendex, not a hernia, blood didn't show it was gall bladder, white blood count was good. So, he said he thought it was my MC, and prescribed Levsin. I started the levsin, and discovered that I can only take it at night, cuz, it knocks me out.... and it does seem to help the pain, BUT... that was Tuesday that I started the levsin, and today is Sunday... The levsin takes the edge off the pain, which made me think that maybe it was my MC, but during the day, I need to take ultram for pain, because without it...the pain in my gut is as bad as it was to begin with. Soooo, tomorrow, I am going to call the doc. and find out (hopefully) how long to take the levsin, and it maybe this could be a hernia, and they just can't feel it, or what?!?!?! I am soooo confused, and am so tired of being sick. The pain is right in my naval, and it goes towards the right side, it is an aching pain, sometimes sharp and hurts to wear anything with a waist in it. I have had similar pain like this in the past, but never this severe.. I always just waited for it to pass... this time, it isn't going away. Has anyone here had something similar to this? Also, does anyone else take levsin, and does it knock you out too? I am very confused, and upset... and tired of hurting!!! Today, I have pain going all the way around my midriff... but I think it may be my fibromyalgia, who the heck knows.... Does anyone have any suggestions??? Input?? HELP!!! I feel kind of at a loss as to what to do.... Thanks for listening.....
Love, A VERY FRUSTRATED DORRIE....
Wow, Dorrie!! How frustrating all this must be for you. I don't really have any good advice for you. I haven't had any pain like that and I've never taken Levsin.
I'm really sorry you are still suffering from whatever this is. I would call/see the doctor again and find out if there isn't some more tests or something they could do to find out exactly what the problem might be.
Good luck, and many (((((((Hugs)))))))

I'm so sorry you feel so bad. I haven't had any of the symptoms you're describing (pain in the navel area) with my MC but we're all different. Does it feel worse when you eat? Are you constipated? Does it keep you awake at night? I guess I'd go back to the doctor too and see if they can't run some more tests like CT or barium.
I hope you get some help soon.

Hi Dorrie,
Sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time of late. Don't know what to tell you that hasn't already been said about what to do for that.
By the way, are you taking any kind of live culture yogurt or other type of probiotic?
I can't remember whether you've got any dairy issues or not, but if you do, Whole Foods has a probiotic in the refrigerated section of their vitamin department that is "Milk free." I had to return to the hospital following the thyroidectomy and a round of antibiotics, due to an arrhythmia, and didn't realize I had 102 fever until they took my temp in ER. A tylenol did away with the fever, and therefore, most of the arrhythmia in a short while, but with the very next dose of the antibiotic, I developed diarrhea that was PURE water, unlike what I usually had.
At that point, I stopped that on my own, and made a strong plea to one of the nurse assistant's to bring me some live culture yogurt from the kitchen of the hospital. Bless her little heart, she did it, I ate it all, and even though I later discovered I was casein sensitive, it STILL made me feel sooo much better. There was alot of it in the container, but I ate every bit of it. I even had a hard time believing that it worked so fast!
Oh, and when I had the "runs," at the same time, I THOUGHT what I was feeling in my rectum was constipated stool, but now remember that somehow I realized it wasn't stool, but instead, that I was swollen inside.
After discharge with no arrhythmia, I went to a local primary care doc with a strangulated hemorrhoid which I didn't have lanced as I wanted to give conservative management at home a chance, and luckily, it worked. Anyway, it was that hemorrhoid that resulted in my getting my first colonoscopy to make sure the "rhoids" weren't caused by something more serious, and that was when they found the M.C.
Anyway, are you taking any kind of probiotic whenever you go on antibiotics, or else buttermilk or live culture yogurt if you're not sensitive to dairy casein?
Just thought I'd tell you my experience, not that there's necessarily any application in your case.
Wow, that's scary about the pneumonia vaccine. Was that your first time to ever have one of those? I was thinking about going ahead and getting mine when I get my flu shot, but now, I'm wondering if I'm GOING to get a flu shot. Think I will, just hope it's not too late.
Yours, Luce

Dorrie,
I sure hope your doc can figure this out, that is a lot going on!!
keep bugging them until you get an answer! Sometimes I feel like I get the brush off from the docs, and then I get their bill. But no real answers.

Hi Dorrie,
I hope things are more settled today! Wow, you got it bad
I've never had a flu shot, haven't had the type of pain you describe, and have never tried that medication. Lotta help I am, heh? You don't think this is residual from the bladder infection at all? I'm just wondering because of the location. I know fibro can wreak havoc with the body, but really don't know what is done for it...I haven't researched it much. I'm crossing everything I got (much as I can) that the docs can come up with some answers for you.
Love ya
