Deb, did you read the post from Tex about starches? I just flashed on it because it mentioned dry mouth and how people who suffer from it have a much harder time digesting starches. If the starch goes into your large intestines undigested, it ferments and causes bloating, gas, and cramps. .... I don't know how much starch you eat, but you may want to cut it our for a while and see what happens.

Can you do anything like a lemon or some other sour lozenge to make more saliva? Or how about some kind of gum? Dry mouth is SO uncomfortable. I am sorry that you have things that are going wrong on so many fronts.

Hi Ant! Good to "see" you! I have to admit, when I first started seeing your posts in my early PP days, I wasn't sure if you were a girl or a boy! Was Ant a nickname or short for Anthony? Who knew??
I took Claritin Readitabs for several weeks in the morning and it really helped with the D. I was really surprised. My Sauvignon Blanc was really causing me trouble then too, with bothersome flushing. Not sure if it was the histamines or yeast in the wine.
I'm on prednisone for my skin rash, so nothing bothers me now. In fact, I'm constipated this week! And drinking fiber-rich smoothies and coffee every day! I'm kind-of missing the familiar daily clean-out of MC. I'm sure it'll be back soon, as I'm tapering to very low doses now.
Let us know what if any changes you note on the antihistamine. Allegra (fexofenadine) might be worth a try too if you want an alternative to Claritin.

Hi,
Just a quick update. I could not find a Loratadine brand in Hong Kong that listed inactive ingredients, except for "Clarityne" which lists lactose.
I decided to keep away from brands that kept their inactive ingredients secret or from ones that do list but have ingredients that might cancel out positive effects.
I am now in Thailand and will see if the pharmacies here have "Claritin Readitabs" or another brand that lists inactive ingredients that do not include those I am intolerant to.
The hunt continues......
Best wishes, Ant

Well no.....
All the Loratadine products in Thailand do not list their non-active ingredients , even in the well known UK pharmacy chain of "Boots" that is here.
So, next stop will be UK in about a month.
But, I am getting more and more annoyed at the ignorance of FDAs and their equivalents worldwide (aided and abetted no doubt by the self interested and arrogant, multinational 'big pharma' that thinks it is ok not to let people know what they are putting into their bodies). I assume they think the pharmaceutical industry "knows best": 'Nanny States', 'Lazy States' or 'Corrupted States' (take you pick) at their worst!
Best wishes, Ant (in a rant!)
