Probiotics

Post by Jazi »

I know they're good in general but are they recommended for MC? Is there a specific brand that everyone uses?

When I thought I had parasites (and to this day I still don't know if that was ever true), I saw a Naturopath and she put me on Florastor and HMF powder. I'm wondering if I should continue taking them both, or just one... and how often.

Jazi-
From what I have read on this site.....most probiotics are hard for us
Until we are in remission.
I am taking Asacol HD and m D went from 12-16 times per day to 3-4
I think soy is bad for me but I believe I can tolerate dairy.
I drink about 2 cups of Kefir everyday for the past 2 weeks.
I read online that a man felt that he "cured" his MC by drinking 2 cups of kefir
Everyday . But he stated that if he did not drink it the D returned.

I've asked about Kefir on this site and many agree it is good for you as long as you
Can tolerate dairy.

Plus I read that many probiotics in pill form are no longer "live" because
The die through the manufacturing, shipping, and shelf life.

The plain Kefir tastes like buttermilk YUCK ...could not drink even in a smoothie
But the strawberry and raspberry are great....but have added sugar

If you go to the main message board, page 2 titled :Newly diagnosed and have questions
Tex answered my questions about kefir etc.

Hope this helps
