Battery Acid Poop

Post by jgivens »

Who first used the term in the subject line and what food was it in response to? I remember reading about it here but can't remember where. I was soooo grateful that I had not experienced that. Well, guess what? Last night after a day of painful joints, and equally painful gut, I experienced my first battery acid poop and it was MOST unpleasant.
I think it was in response to G-F oatmeal for breakfast on Thursday AM, as my gut pain started about 8 hours later and did not let up until last night. Today I have some residual gut pain and my right hip is really letting me know that it is unhappy, but I think that I have turned the corner on this flare and learned a valuable lesson. No oatmeal for this woman ever again!

Jane,

I think I've heard of that in conjunction with getting dairy-ed. But honestly, I don't know what that is! Enlighten me please. So sorry you've had a flare but glad to hear it seems to be short-lived and you know the culprit. I've often thought about trying some GF oats but keep putting it off. After reading this, I think I'll stay away. Hope you feel back to normal soon! I had a short-lived reaction (gas and slight ab pain) a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately for me, not sure what the culprit was. We live and learn.

Take care,

Jane, so sorry you had to experience the battery acid... aptly named, don't you think?

I too can not eat oats. I guess the protein in oats looks too much like gluten to our immune system.

Glad though that you already have a handle on it . Progress. :)

Jane,

I believe that was a carryover from Sally's old board. Here are some more:

The Poopies Files

Maybe Polly, or Maggie, or someone else who belonged to the old board remembers who originated the phrase. It originally was attributed to casein reactions, as I recall.

Thanks. I really don't know what battery acid feels like, but this was pretty bad and the imagination would go right to battery acid. I have not been "dairyed" that I know of. I think it is the oatmeal. I'm back to doing broth as I need to feel better for the car trip to Atlanta on Wednesday. My hip has just got to feel better or my husband will have a hard time prying me out of the car once we arrive. I want to be a "fun Grandma", not a "lame Grandma" for my granddaughter's 4th birthday.

Thank you Tex for including the link to the Poopie Files.
I seriously was laughing out loud ....so much that each time I did
I read it out loud to my husband.

I am almost one year into the continuous D ....
laughing about my illness
Is so much better than crying.

I can not even begin to say how much I truely miss a "normal" BM.

Elimination diet begins tomorrow

I think I remember but am not sure. Somehow I think it was either NY Barbara or Island Anne that came up with that expression. It is definitely an accurate one.

Samely descriptive as soft serve.

I think it was Polly that expressed the battery acid like poopie!

Mine was having a "baboon butt" after ingesting dairy...
