I had the bloating and gut ache before I went on the Entocort. The Entocort allowed me to heal the inflammation and gave me time to read up more on the disease and figure out a diet plan. I am one of those who kept a food journal from the very beginning. Now I have a whole Recipe Box full of safe recipes. We are all different but some of the suggested food items you might try in the beginning are: bananas, mashed potatoes, carrots, chicken, & white rice, green tea. Get rid of gluten completely. I don't know why your doctor said high fiber. The opposite is true for most of us. Some good news is that many of us can drink coffee. Good luck in the next few weeks of food trials and let us know how you progress.

Ant's sample was shipped designated as overnight delivery, but it got stuck in customs in Alaska for a few days until they figured out that they needed to send it on.
I suspect what the folks at EnteroLab are trying to tell you is that it needs to be returned from the same state to which it was originally shipped. They don't want to get into trouble with legal issues in the state of NY. You need to find a friend (or another board member) in an adjacent state, (adjacent to NY), so that the kit can be received and shipped from there.

Tex and Ant, I emailed Enterolab yesterday telling them my predicament (maybe whoever answers their emails has a different answer). I also mentioned to them that I am very close to Canada and I have a good friend that lives there.
Here's hoping.

Are you near the Vermont border? I live in southern Vermont, but if you had it mailed to me I could mail it to you and then you could send it back from Vermont but closer to you. I asked for for any recommendations and she mentioned Metametrix lab. Has anyone ever used them for this?
I did Metametrix Triad Profile in October 2011. They tested IgG4 food antibodies (90 Anitgens).
My results: Navy Bean (112) mild +2, Pinto Bean (122) mild +2, Pistachio (118) mild +2. Grape (77) mild +1, Peanut (33), Cashew (18), Soybean (15), Sunflower (13), Lentil (11).
Every other result was <10.
I don't know the difference between Enterolab and Metametrix...maybe someone on here knows how they differ?
I really feel like it was a waste of money - especially now that I realize what a difference diet makes with my CC. After doing their test in 2011, it was assumed food had nothing to do with my CC because I showed no reaction to any of the foods I was eating.
Also, this Triad Profile test only tested wheat, not gluten.
The difference between the tests is that intestinal food sensitivities rarely show up in the blood, (except in the case of fully-developed celiac disease).
EnteroLab uses stool tests to detect the antibodies where they are produced (in the gut).

Are you close to a state border that you could go to Ohio, Canada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, one of the New England states and get it mailed there and mail it from there? This just sounds ridiculous!

Here is the email reply that I rec'd from Enterolab...
My Question: I really need some help. I was diagnosed with Lymphocytic Colitis and your lab came highly recommended but I live in NY State. The only family I have out of state is in California. I also have a friend in Canada and Canada is very close to me. Do you have any recommendations on what I can do to be able to have this testing done? The elimination process is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Thank you in advance.
Response: Dear Joanne, Unfortunately we are unable to send testing kits to or receive specimens from New York or Maryland residents whether a private party or a practitioner places the order. As is stated on our website, the states of New York and Maryland do not allow their residents to purchase medical testing directly from a clinical laboratory. In addition, clinical laboratories located outside of these two states must be granted a special license from the secretary of each state in order for physicians to order testing for their patients residing in New York or Maryland. Due to the fact that laboratory records would be susceptible for audit by these states if those licenses were obtained, EnteroLab has decided against applying for said licenses so the confidentiality of our patients’ records remains intact. Very close to Canada but confused as to how I would go about it. Their response to my email seemed to confuse me even more

Jazi, I'm so glad I don't live in New York any more. It's a beaureaucratic mess! Oklahoma is much better. What if your friend in Canada requested the test and she just happened to have a sample identical to yours to return? It would be under her name, though, if she wouldn't mind.
