New to the group
I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis last September after a colonoscopy to investigate severe Amelia (no definitive reason was found). I did not give it much thought as I was asymptomatic at that time. About a month ago I developed severe diarrhea and nothing helped. Finally my doc put me on prednisone and like a miracle after the first dose I was 90% better. I am worried about what is ahead but relieved that the worst is over - I hope. I am so happy to have found this group.
Hello and welcome to this wonderful group of people!
I'm fairly new here as well (two weeks?) and these people have been wonderful. Here is my first thread which may answer a lot of your questions: http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... sc&start=0

Welcome!
How much prednisone are you on? I'm also on prednisone for a related autoimmune skin disease and achieved symptom remission very quickly at 40 mgs and still today at 10 mgs. But prednisone is bad stuff. The bone loss, the tooth sensitivity and receding gums, the nervousness and insomnia. Luckily I didn't have the weight gain, blood pressure, mood and blood sugar problems. Did your GI doctor prescribe it? Did he/she offer Entocort, which is a safer, local-acting steroid? I can't wait to taper completely off prednisone. It is not a long-terms solution, just a short-term band-aid.

Thank you all! I was feeling so desperate until I found this group, and now reading about all the successes, both big and small, I am hopeful that I am on the right track. Interestingly, I had just started taking Prevacid after Prilosec gave me one giant hive on the inside of my elbow. Now I read on this forum that Prevacid can be a trigger. Who knew?
