Why does it say that my IP address is from Canada?

Apparently there's some overlap in the services areas proved by certain carriers, and the system incorrectly interprets which country the IP address is associated with. One or two other members have the same problem.
If you want to prevent anyone from incorrectly assuming that you are posting from Canada, you can post your location (city and state, or just state, or just country) in your profile, and your correct location will be displayed below your avatar. Of course, the country IP flag may still be incorrect, but most members realize that's due to the whims of the IP address assignments. If IP addresses were assigned to countries in single contiguous blocks of numbers, the interpretation would be easy. Unfortunately though, IP addresses are all over the place, with various blocks of numbers here and there, which makes separation kind of tricky in some cases.
