Now The Latest Problem With Rice Is Lead
Hi All,
Apparently the problem is with imported rice (so far at least). But for all I know maybe they have only tested imported rice.
US rice imports 'contain harmful levels of lead'
Has anyone else noticed that the FDA never catches this stuff? It's almost always some other organization that discovers problems with food contamination. Taxpayers waste a heck of a lot of hard-earned money on the FDA, and they don't seem to get much in return.
At least they have agreed to review the report. Now isn't that downright magnanimous of them.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Isn't all rice imported from the Orient? I never heard of rice fields in this country...
It is, indeed, very magnanimous of them

Monique,
Over 90 % of the rice we consume is grown in this country. Most of it is grown across the South, but Leah is correct — California also grows rice. Here's a link that shows the major rice production states:

That report sounds as though it was probably written by someone from the California Rice Commission.Jon wrote:Hi, The lastest reports say that rice from California is the best.
