Its been too long

Post by JoAnn »

Hi everyone, I can't remember when I posted with my family here, but I check in often and feel the need to feel connected with you all. So far I'm still a success story. This board got me through some really tough years, but with diet, entocort, and your wonderful compassion and advice, I feel very normal now. I don't take anything to manage my mc, just watch my diet. Even when I stray a bit, I don't have problems. For the past couple of years, I've had several people cross my path with the same issues I was having and have been able to help them. They feel so alone and sick and go from doctor to doctor just like I did. It's like dejavu when I listen to them and I know how frightened, sick, and lost they feel. The first thing I tell them is about this wonderful group of people here who are a lifeline and who will help them find their way back to health. I also tell them about Tex's book and what a godsend it is. (BTW, Tex I did the review on Amazon with the name MourningDove  ) Even though I was in remission when it came out, I bought it immediately and have loaned it to others. Tex, thank you so much for being superman to us all and all the members here who give so much. I've been here long enough to see the different "generations" (not in age, but mc) come along and it seems like you have a special connection with those who were suffering at the same time and for the veterans who were here to give a helping hand. I appreciate the new ones who come along and fill the void some of us leave as we heal. Thanks for always being here and I love you all, JoAnn

JoAnn,

Your ears must have been burning.....Gloria & I were just having a discussion & your name came up!

I am an elementary teacher on sabbatical this year as my MC symptoms began last August. I'm considering retiring (I'm 53) due to fatigue as well as needing to 'run' often.

Gloria mentioned you were in the same boat, at one time.

It looks like you're doing well. Congrats!

Hi Linda! So nice to meet you. Yes, I was in your situation and had to take medical leave because of the mc. If I hadn't found this board, I would have ended up on disability. Instead, I followed their advice and over time I got my life back and am still teaching today. I'm hoping to retire in a couple of years, but hopefully it will still be my choice and not a forced retirement because of mc. I know how you feel trying to keep up with all the pressures of teaching, pushing yourself to keep up when you feel so terrible and wondering if you'll make it to the bathroom when you need to. It took me a couple of years with lots of ups and downs before I felt like I was "winning" this war. I don't know your situation with mc, I'll have to go back and read your posts, but I hope things are getting better for you as you follow the advice here. Just know you're not alone and if I can help in any way, please let me know. Love JoAnn

Hi JoAnn,

It's nice to see you posting, and it's great to see that you're still in remission. I've been wondering who wrote that review. Most of the others, I could figure out, but not that one. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

And I still love your tagline. To me, it epitomizes the type of courage we have to have, in order to be able to take control of our health, and make the necessary diet changes, while our doctor is insisting that diet changes won't make any difference. That takes a lot of courage and it takes a lot of the type of self-reliance displayed by most of the characters portrayed by John Wayne during his acting career. Great tag line!

Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

JoAnn, thanks for sharing your continued success. I am hopeful when I read such postings. I have been getting along well this year with Diet and Entocort alone. I sometimes stray at a party, most recently I devoured a croissant. I expected a bad setback but did not get sick. I seem more healed this year more than last. I have no intention of taking risks, but sometimes I just give in to gluttony. I see some people on the site today said they are eat dried blueberries. I have avoided blueberries, because like strawberries they have little seeds, the kind of roughage that bothers me. Could I try "dried" blueberries instead?

Hi JoAnn,

Don't know you but I know your story as it is the story of all of us. I just want to say that reading your post GAVE ME HOPE.

It's a daily struggle and some days I feel that it is hopeless. But today I feel hopeful.

Your tagline is GREAT!

Nice to meet you Joann and it's always nice to hear success stories. I hope your friend gets help with her thyroid. It's all so much to deal with at once. Doing the diet thing is hard enough as it is!

Thanks everyone for making me feel so good! I feel like I got a big group hug from all of you. You all give so much here. I need to repent and post more. Its nice to make some new friends and connect with old friends. Gabes, all your posts are beautiful treats and you've given back so much here. As you remembered, I tested positive to eggs with enterolab, but over time and much healing I was able to put them back in my diet. You have a great memory about my duck eggs. I still have my ducks and about a dozen chickens. I can eat the duck eggs and chicken eggs without any problems. They free range and are very creative where they lay them. It's like a scavenger hunt finding them. On Easter, my grandson came up with quite a few extras found in the haystack and around the corrals. It's nice to meet you Monique and Leah. I think I've connected with Cory on a previous thread. I hope you're all progressing through your mc journey. I was happy to hear that I gave you hope Monique. I remember when I was suffering and I wondered if I would ever have a decent life again. It was slow with many ups and downs. Everytime I went down, the wonderful people here would pick me up and get me going again with some new thing to try or tweak and lots of encouragement. If I can do that for someone, it makes all the tough times worth it.
Thank you Tex, Joe, and Leah for responding to my friend Linda. She started out with food sensitivities and is now dealing with Graves disease on top of it. We know here how all these things are connected. I know she has felt terribly alone and the friendship and support of this board will help her so much.

Hi JoAnn!

I haven't been on the board for a few days and missed this post. It's wonderful to "hear" from you and be reminded of your successful journey. It gives everyone encouragement. It's nice to see your friend on the board, too.
