? re bladder scope

Post by Mars »

Has anyone had a bladder scope before? I had one today (no reason found for the blood in the urine) but I am wondering.........is it normal to have cramps/pinching twinges/pain after? I have had all of them since the procedure 5 hours ago. I was also given one 500mg Cipro to prevent any infection.

Evening Mars----
Cant help in this department---how do they do that scoping anyway or should I ask??

About the blood in the urine~~~~~this goes back to my RETIRED GP--bout 7 years back---upon having my physical, blood showd up in my urine so he had me come back in a week to retest--
To him it was nothing!
But I had the same thing happen 2 years in a row---and still nothing!!!?

I think my RETIRED GP kinda screwed up on his opinions(here and there) with me and Lou---and this guy specializing in Cardio.!!!

Our new GP was very disturbed that neither Lou nor I had been informed that our pressures/etc had been on the rise all the time!!!
This got me very very

We made a good choice with Dr.Kozin----xcellant GP

So ya liked my :cheerleader:

take care dear friend---
keep us informed as to whats going on---

 I have had 2 cystoscopies (bladder scopes) and I think it depends on the doctor. If he was a bit rough with you then I could certainly see you having a little discomfort afterward.

I have had microscopic blood in the urine for years. They have never found the cause. It's always there. Lots of people have that as I found out AFTER I got it - LOL. It was worrisome at first but I don't think anything about it now.

Did you also have kidney xrays where they inject the dye into your bloodstream? If not, that's probably next so don't be surprised if they do that.

At this point, if the blood is microscopic, I wouldn't be too concerned. If it's visible it would be more serious.

Perhaps Polly will have more to add.

Hi Mars,

Have never been scoped but have had red cells in the urine too. What you describe sounds about normal for post-scope discomfort. Hope it's better by now.

Love,

Polly

Thanks for the input! The cramps are "better" this morning but still there - don't think the doc was none too gentle either!

The blood is microscopic and they said that many people have it. Nothing showed up in the ultrasound or scope so they are not worried. They did remove some urine directly from the bladder and will send it off for further tests. He doesn't expect to find anything. (Great news!)

Getting ready for a big day at work - almost out the door - snowed last night here - just a dusting! It's 21 degrees right now! YIKES

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Love,
Mars

Hi Mars

I have had several cystoscopys as well as other tests (radioactive xrays) & I was given antibiotics because anything introduced in there has the potential to cause infection. I would tell doc if the discomfort continues. It may be due to scraping or scratching during the procedure but it should not go on for too long I don't think without investigation.

Love
