I don't want to celebrate too prematurally, but...I have not taken Prilosec for 7 days now and I've taken Maalox once or twice a day when I thought I needed it. I have been weaning myself off of this #%!* stuff since last August and I think that I am finally DONE with it after nearly 10 years on it. I feel pretty darned good about it.

Good for you Jane! I know it must have been tough after taking it all those years. Are you taking vitamin D during the process?

Jane,

Congratulations!

That's about as close to a superhuman accomplishment as one can get, and it's something that the drug companies never expected you to be able to accomplish, after taking it for so long. Kudos to you.

I think it was knowing that I was dependent on Big Pharma that got me more than concern over my gut. It just pissed me off and I wasn't going to take it any more (literally). My husband is off it now too. If something makes me angry enough, I can push on through! I was NEVER at the point of having Barrett's from GERD but it was darned uncomfortable.
I am sure GERD all those years ago (it caused asthma, which has since gone away) and belching and burping more recently, were just more preliminary symptoms of CC.
