Paleo diet "Craze" on Dr. Oz show this afternoon

Post by Zizzle »

FYI - Dr. Oz is doing a show about the Paleo diet "craze" today. I wonder how much misinformation it will contain? Tune in to find out!

I wasn't able to find anything on it. I am becoming more and more interested in the Paleo diet since meat has become my friend.

They actually didn't do a horrible job. Dr. Oz had Dr. Loren Cordain himself as a guest!! I really liked him. The Paleoista female guest...not so much, but the segment worked. They also had 2 patients who "cured" their diseases on the diet, one with thyroid disease, the other with MS. But the main emphasis was how great it is for weight loss.

It's interesting how they emphasize no grains, without giving greatest importance to gluten-containing grains, as if all grains are equally bad. And they lump legumes in that evil category as well. It must be tough for someone starting the diet to know what's MOST important to eliminate first. One woman shared her recipe for beef jerky. I can't beleive I haven't tried to make it yet.

Later on, I watched the Colbert report, where he interviewed Michal Pollan about his new book "Cooked." He's famous for his exposes on the food industry. He said basically what's wrong with our diets is in the cooking step. He said anything cooked by a factory is not healthy, and if we only cooked at home our health would vastly improve.

Good day for TV! I actually got extra motivated to eat Paleo in earnest and do all my own cooking!

No, but it seemed really simple. Salt, pepper, spices and throw in the oven at 185 degrees for 4 hours or longer, basically all day.
