Country IP
My country IP on my profile changed to Canada. When I checked the box at the bottom of the profile page to delete it, it doesn't work.
Any suggestions as to why this happened and how I can fix it.
Thanks

It's a quirk in the system, caused by random assignments of IP addresses between countries outside of earlier conventions. IOW, the system is misinterpreting your IP address because the data have changed since the algorithms in the code were written (or possibly because some service providers may be playing fast and loose with the rules by using IP address groups across international boundaries).
One way to prevent it is to post your own avatar. The system only assigns an avatar if a member does not select an avatar. You can select a stock avatar from the options available in your profile, or you can upload a custom avatar from your own computer (such as the personal photos that many members use for their avatar).
If you're not sure how to create or upload a custom avatar, and you would like to use a photo, if you'll attach an image file to an email and email it to me, I'll be happy to make the conversion and upload it for you. To send me an email, just click on the "email" button at the bottom of this post.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Tex... on my profile page I can't get a pic to upload or use the avatar...it just doesn't let me change anything.
I'd rather have anything than the Canadian flag...no offense anyone from Canada (my sister-in-law and brother-in-law live there, and it's a beautiful place!)
What can we try, Tex?

Well, you may need to have Java activated in order to upload a file, but emailing an attached image file to me will work for sure. Or, I can set up one of the stock avatars for you if you will tell me what you want me to use.
I have to go a meeting in a few minutes, so I'll be gone for several hours.

No. You apparently have a corrupt cookie in your browser. Scroll down to the link that says "Remove cookies set by this forum", and click on it and follow the on-screen instructions. When you finish, be sure that you close ALL of the tabs that are open in your browser. When you log in after that, the system should ask for your username and password, and when you log in it will assign a new cookie to your browser. That should solve your problem.Linda wrote:I can't even see the avatar pics....can I look them up online?
If it doesn't, please let me know, and we'll try something else.

Under random avatars there is a pic of an orange flower. Could you make it that? I cleared the cookies, and can see the avatars, and checked the box beneath the pic then submitted and it still didn't show. I checked delete under the Canadian flag, too and it did not delete.
So, I would appreciate it if you would place that pic on for me.
Thanks!!!!!!

Did I select the correct one?
There's still something going on in your browser that's limiting your permissions unnecessarily.
Are you by any chance using NoScript (for Firefox)? If so, from the NoScript dropdown menu of options, you need to select "Allow all of this page", and that should solve the problem.
If I picked the wrong avatar (there was another sort of orange flower), please let me know, and I'll change it.

I tried Google Chrome a year or so ago and didn't like it, so I'm not familiar with it, unfortunately.
You're very welcome, and I hope you can figure out what's causing the glitch. The problem could also be in your computer operating system fire wall. You may need to add this website to it's "white list".
