need your opinion

Ok, everyone out there....I reacted strongly to beef, tuna, & chicken on the Enterolab tests....I'm trying different proteins (tried lamb & venison) and I want to try wild caught sockeye salmon....anyone have a thought on if I should give it a shot?

Thanks! :chef:

Linda,

I also reacted to tuna, which was a surprise to me since I have never noticed an obvious reaction. The nurse at Enterolab said that some people also will react to Salmon.. To be on the safe side I decided to avoid all seafood for now since I'm early in this recovery process. Others on the board may have more experience and advice for you.
I like salmon, so I plan to challenge it later, when my symptoms are under better control.

How about trying shellfish, shrimp, octopus and squid, or white, flaky fish? Have you tried duck? Yumm.

I have tried shellfish, and had a bad reaction! That's why I'm hesitant to try salmon but dying for some! I eat haddock and cod, but think maybe it doesn't like me.

I should try duck. It's hard to find where I live.

Thanks!

I also can't eat beef, chicken or tuna. Now I eat lamb, pork, turkey, cod and a little salmon. I do react to canned salmon but that's probably a histamine thing. I get only wild caught salmon not the farmed stuff. I tried some calamari and reacted to that and have stayed away from trying things like scallops, clams and shrimp, not wanting to repeat my calamari experience. I have eaten duck recently but it's too expensive to be a regular thing. I have also tried venison and did ok with that. Lamb and pork are really my go to meats with smaller amounts of turkey and cod. I don't mind eating the same thing very day. Anything is better than being sick all the time.

Thanks Jean...we do have a lot of the same issues! And are eating most of the same foods!
I didn't cook my thawed piece of salmon tonight out of fear, but I may as well give it a try. I had reactions to canned salmon, also, and that's why I was hesitant.

Oh boy... as much as I'm looking forward to getting these tests done, I am so afraid of the results.

Linda, can you eat shrimp?

Joanne,

I tried shrimp last week, and it was a big NEGATIVE! I won't go there again. I'm trying to like lamb, but having trouble with the uniqueness of it.

I was totally blown away by my Enterolab results. I had no idea I had so many sensitivities, and my body was in hyper alert! The hardest food to give up was almond butter, and almond flour baked goods. They are so good! There are wonderful grain free recipes on pinterest that use almond flour & butter.

Linda, I reacted strongly to tuna too, but I am fine with salmon, cod, shrimp. I know it's difficult to take a chance, but when I started feeling pretty good, I thought I would give salmon a shot, and it worked out okay. Just never know!

Linda, only you can make that decision. it really depends on how well you are doing right now. If you are feeling pretty good, then a test will only hurt in the short run. I have had many "next day reactions", but it's a one time episode.... a small price to pay to get some answers.

Enterolab said I can't eat chicken or tuna. MRT said salmon isn't for me. I am going to try turkey again.
I can eat cod, and rainbow trout and sardines (canned of course!)

I have been looking over my MRT results and have noticed that I have been eating a couple of foods that might be fall in the high green or low yellow category, like avocado and banana, using parsley for juicing and a little honey for sweetening, so I am now eschewing (lovely word, isn't it) those things to see if it helps.
I am trying to eat as paleo as I can, though I modify it by eating some oats (I make oat cakes to eat with my sardines). I can eat so few foods that I needed to add something.

Almonds? Both enterolab and MRT said to stay away  So I use walnuts, hazelnuts, and pecans. Not as versatile as almonds, but still good.

And, of course, I cannot kick sugar.
