help to get back to health
Hi my name is Bellamia and this is my first time in the forum. Thank you for being here. My hope is to get answers that can help me feel better. I have suffered with a spastic colon since I was 10 years old. I also had a constant yeast infection. In my older teen years I started to feel some fatigue. In my twenties I became allergic to chemicals and some foods. My moods went up and down and my vision became irratic. I followed the Candia road and never really had victory. I progressed in my allergies, and became very allergic to medicines. Through the years I found out I had epstein-barr virus and Hashimotos hypo-thyroiditis and Im lactose intollerant. Over the last couple of years I realized that I could not eat wheat and as of 2 mths ago have been trying to live gluten free. My intestine burns, my ureinary tract burns and I get pains in the intestines if I eat wheat. I am not absorbing vitamins, my bloodwork shows my B vitamins, D3, A, and Adreanals are low. When I take any form of vitamins from sublingul, liquid or pill or even take any kind of oils(fish, flax, chia)I either burn in the intestine/urinary area and always Have a reaction such as alot of irritability, nervousness, anger and depression. Once I get off of the suppliment by the next day I snap out of it. I think Im not absorbing and they are backing up in my system. On top of everything we found out a while ago that we have been living in a home with black mold for about 14 years. We are actively looking for a clean home but I am so allergic to many things that I have reactions to paints and the chemicals used in the homes.
Questions:
1.Could you help me make heads or tails of my situation
2.Is there a way I could abosorb my vitamins and what kind to take
3.I cant eat rice, soy sugar, vinigar, yeast, dairy and I cant have beta-carotene supl. Does anyone know of a bread or recepe that is free of these ingrediants
Thank you so much
Bellamia

Hi BellaMia,
Welcome to the board. Your situation is way beyond the scope of this board, but if I were in your situation, the first thing I would do is to make absolutely sure that I was avoiding gluten and dairy 100 %. You apparently have a lot of inflammation. I would experiment with antihistamines until I found one or more that would help suppress/prevent inflammation, in order to help control my symptoms, so that I could at least take vitamins D3 and B-12 (in sublingual form). Vitamins that are not absorbed are normally flushed out of the system.
You didn't mention bowel function. Are you having normal bowel movements, or diarrhea (D)?
Are you currently taking any medications?
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Bellamia. So sorry to hear that you have so much going on. it is quite overwhelming.
Tex is our expert, but his expertise is with Microscopic colitis. If you have bowel problems, you might want to get a colonoscopy with biopsies to see if you have something besides inflammation.
Bread without yeast is a tough one. You probably should just give p that quest. There are plenty of quick breads and muffin recipes that use almond flour, but they usually have some kind of sweetener. Going COMPLETELY gluten and and dairy free is important. They can be very inflammatory foods. Check all your labels. Sounds like you should check out the Paleo diet (Caveman). Many here find relief following that way of eating.
As for the yeast, have they ever put you on a long term dose of Diflucan ( antifungal)? Any results?
I wish you luck

Welcome, Bellamia
There are many recipes in Dee's Kitchen, in addition to the almond recipe above. You might want to look at them. Hopefully you'll find some that you like and can eat. Good luck!

It's pretty difficult to make bread without yeast or sugar. I use corn tortillas as a substitute for bread. Some people make a flat bread as a substitute. Muffins are also a nice replacement for bread. It's possible to make muffins with almond flour, substitute sugar and eggs. I posted a recipe I use for my diabetic husband here: http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13739Bellamia wrote:I cant eat rice, soy sugar, vinigar, yeast, dairy and I cant have beta-carotene supl. You never know what you can do until you have to do it.

Hi, thank you for your concern, My body may be going through alot but My faith is strong. So I am resting in His ever loving arms. Its funny that you should mention the Palio diet because Today I saw on Dr. Oz a whole section on the diet. My friend has also told me about it. I will look into it. I am thinking about going on nistatin.
Thanks

Bellamia,
Have you tried taking antihistamines? Many of the foods that you named (especially vinegar, yeast, and dairy) are either high in histamines or they trigger the release of histamines, and histamines can cause the symptoms that you are experiencing (and molds are also a major source of histamines).
The only fly in the ointment with that scenario is that beta-carotene should help to reduce mast cell degranulation, rather than to make it worse, but maybe something else is interfering with that effect.

Bellamia, Diflucan is an antifungal that you take orally ( so it goes through out your whole body). Usually one would take one pill only and the yeast infection would go a way. At one time ( when they thought I had candidas) I was taking one pill every day for months! it's a fairly benign drug.
