Entocort and high blood pressure/fast heart rate

Post by Bama12 »

I have been on Asacol for 2 months and have seen some improvements.

My GI prescribed Entocort

I've been reading about entocort and had some questions.

I have moderate high blood pressure (prehypertension)
But my cardiologist was concerned with my pulse rate
It is never below 90.
He has wanted to put me on beta blockers , but I have been
Reluctant to start once again another medication.

I'm reading online that you should be careful with entocort and high blood pressure?

Plus I wanted to ask, my GI is having me take both Asacol and Entocort together ?

Is anyone else taking both ?

And one more

How long after removing soy, dairy and gluten can I eliminate medication ?

Lynn,

I have taken both Asacol and Entocort together, it was over a 2 month period. While I was on them I tapered the Asacol then discontinued it, I didn't have any problem with both together. My blood pressure runs low and did not increase with Entocort, I have been on Entocort for about 6 months with no blood pressure or pulse rate increases. Everyone responds differently, but that has been my experience.

I am currently on 3 mg Entocort and have eliminated all potential food allergens for about 3 weeks. I continue to have GI symptoms, but I know this takes time, Tex has mentioned it could take up to a year or more. In the mean time I keep a journal to help sort everything out.
Hope this helps.

I was on Asacol and Entocort for some time until they realised I was intolerant to Asacol. Unfortunately, my blood pressure has gone up (I was on E from July last year to Sunday just passed). I am hoping my BP will now come down!!

high blood pressure /tachycardia can be linked to histamine/mast cell type reactions...

have you read the area of the website that talks about histamine/mast cells? This is a common issue for many MC'ers, at varying stages of their MC journey and can be a long term issue for some.

I am one that had high BP/tachycardia

16 months ago my resting heart rate was above 100
H2 blockers did help

as time went on, the high BP started and was a concern to my doctor, I also had failing kidney function.
long story short, pre MC, I never took meds, didn't even have a family doctor. I focussed on wholistic therapies.

due to the seriousness of long term damage to my heart and kidney, I am now on beta blocker medication.
the risk of long term irreversible damage is too high in this situation.

you are similar age to me, part of the adjustment with Mc and these type of health issues, we have to reassess our beliefs a bit, and do what we need to do to nurture our body, minimise symptoms, and optimise wellness.
the risks associated with beta blocker medication are far far less than being reliant on dialysis/donation kidney!!!!

Gabes-
Thank you for your response.
You are right I struggle at such a young age.
I just turned 40 and feel as if my body is beginning to fail me.
I had 2 perfectly normal pregnancies without any BP issues.

Ugh

I feel like I take sooooooo much medication.
Probably the NSAIDs and SSRI's that got me here.

I no longer take any of those
But now am taking so many pills per day just for my MC
It's depressing

Did I mention I'm depressed
But no longer take anything for that either

Now the BP and heart rate issue
I think the heart rate is TOTALLY related to stress......
But of course need to control heart rate until I can find some way to relieve stress

.........OMG ....I was just totally crabbing .......yuck

ok ok - take some deep breaths

shake your hands out - shake off all the intensity.....

what ever got us here - happened. cie la vie.
unless dr who and the tardis (or Michael J fox and the deloirian) is going to transport us back in time so we can correct those events situations, we have to deal with the present

a lot of us have depression/anxiety (me too...)
I was Dx with the MC within a month of turning 40, here i am, 3.5 years later a couple of weeks ago I just got my 6th condition/illness Dx'd

for some of us, life with MC, will have ongoing health issues that we have manage.
Connie (stanz) said the other day '10% is the events that happen, 90% is how we react and manage it'
people like Gloria have been stuck on a roller coast ride of histamines/mast cells/ limited diet for ?? 8 years

Deal with the most important issues first - IMO heart and elevated BP is one of those.
then take it a day at a time (I like to call it a sunrise at a time)
come up with the lifestyle plan (food/meds/supplements/changes etc) that will work for you.

How is your Vit D level? Depression and inflammation issues will be worse if you are Vit D3 deficient.
Bang for your buck to start this road to improvement, start some good Vit D3 supplementation and within weeks you will notice improvement

Thanks for the calming words and advice
I've been taking Vit D3 daily 2000 per day

I think that was the recommended dose

Thanks again

depending on if you are deficient in VitD or not, you may need more than that

and depending on what type of VitD you are taking - if you are taking tablet form, you wont be absorbing that 2000iu.

most days I take about 3000iu -4000iu per day. when there are symptoms, issues, I increase this up to 7000iu
I am taking a sublingual form that is absorbed via the tongue saliva (not via the digestion)
