Progress Report
Hi Y'all,
I have been off all medication since Thanksgiving/Xmas (I messed up over the holidays). I have been in remission and eating a GF and low roughage diet. By remission, I don't mean Normans all the time but normal enough of the time. I am leaving this month for vacation and have decided to take Entocort for the time I'll be gone because I am traveling and moving around a lot so I can't fathom how I would maintain the diet well. I will still try my best. As soon as I get home I'll wean off. I was curious - has anyone tried this, to take Entocort for just a few weeks for a trip or vacation and then get off it on returning home? I feel like it's a cop out but I don't want to have a miserable holiday.
Ciao,
Cory

I have never taken Entocort so cant answer that part of your question...
what I did want to say - IT IS NOT A COP OUT!!! we all do what we need to do to minimise symptoms and be able to 'live life'
don't feel shame or that it is a cop out.
Go! enjoy the holiday! Enjoy living life........

Hi Cory,
I can't recall specific names, but I believe that has been done (successfully) by several member in recent years. For many of us, Entocort doesn't work well enough to allow us to eat whatever we want, but it can certainly help to tide us over small to moderate cross-contamination risks.
I hope your vacation goes smoothly, and you thoroughly enjoy it.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Cory, I took a trip several weeks ago and was pretty nervous about it. Packed the immodium and pepto and some food I knew I could tolerate (almond flour muffins and crackers). Ate out and was able to order plain chicken or fish and plain cooked vegetables. It worked out fine after all my worrying. I never took Entocort, so I can't answer that.
Hope you have a great trip. Just relax and enjoy.

Hi Cory, I did just what you are asking about the first summer I was off entocort. I went on a trip to the Grand Canyon and knew I would be out in the middle of no where much of the time. I think I took 1 entocort each day for "insurance" and I didn't have any problems. It helped me enjoy my trip without worrying as much. I stopped when I got home and things were fine. I've been off entocort and in remission for about 3 years now, but I think I would still take some entocort along if I were going on a major vacation "just in case". It's so hard to know what food problems you're going to run into away from home. It worked for me. JoAnn

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I am going to take one Entocort a day & bring along Pepto-Bismal, then kick back, relax and enjoy being with family.
Don't know what I'd do without this "advisory" board to go to.
