Diagnosed today with LC

Post by PeggySue »

Hi everyone - I received confirmed positive diagnosis today, but had suspected this particular brand of colitis for a few weeks now. I was fine until I went to the Dentist in early January and they prescribed Clindamyican for a bad tooth - within 24 hours it was all over. I went into a bad flare for 3 solid months, until a person starts to figure things out you wonder if you are losing your mind. I experienced a very rough 15 months prior to this with many family problems, a super high strees job - and then the dentist and then I was sick. i am managing this disease on my own and feel great right now - things are norman. I cannot eat beef/eggs or dairy except for cheese. Oh and time released Vitamin C make me really sick - strange. I have cut back on work and am reducing my stress and do not allow myself to get overtired. So watching diet/not getting overtired and reducing stress...sounds like a good recipe for life. This seems to be a great site and its so good to read stories that I relate too. Have a good weekend everyone.

Peggy
things always work out for the best in the end. if its not working out, its not the end.

Hi Peggy,

Welcome to our internet family. You seem to be on the right track, and you're probably way ahead of the doctor who diagnosed you, when it comes to understanding this disease. Good for you for taking charge of your own health. That will definitely pay dividends in the long run, because precious few GI specialists are up to speed on treating this disease.

FWIW, I also reacted to ascorbic acid when I was still recovering.

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Peggy,

Welcome! I have LC too. The first thing I did after finding this site, was cuttin out gluten, dairy and eggs out of my diet.

We all know what it's like, having a lot of rough months... If you ever feel like talking, you know we are here.

Grts

It doesn't matter how many times you fall, but how many times you get up en go for it again. HOPE !!!!
