Has anyone tried Reiki?

Post by carolm »

Has anyone tried Reiki and did you find it worthwhile? I have the opportunity to take a Reiki class and of course people who teach it think it's fabulous. I do believe in the flow of energy and keeping the body balanced, but I just don't know anyone who had experienced Reiki either as a practitioner or a recipient, unlike acupuncture where I could find valid research for it's effectiveness. I'd appreciate anyone's input.

thanks,
Carol

Hi Carol,
I tried Reiki once (I bought a Groupon) and found it quite interesting. Going in, I was as skeptical of it as I formerly was of acupuncture (until I had tendinitis in my elbow, and after acupuncture, have been pain free for about six years). Anyhow, I was amazed at the amount of heat generated over my body by the practitioner's hands, and by how relaxed I felt afterward.

I recently had a massage (different person) and she did a little reiki over the spots that had been hurting prior to the massage. Again, it felt very warm and, between the massage and the reiki, I could hardly walk out of there--I was like a limp noodle, LOL.

Go for it! Take the class and see what you think.

I've also tried reflexology (those darn Groupons!) and I really enjoyed it, until midway through the session, having an overactive imagination, the thought occurred to me, what if the person doing the reflexology chose the job because they had a foot fetish. So that creeped me out for a minute, then I chose to forget it. That treatment felt great too, and not just in the feet.

 foot fetish.... see, when we relax our minds we never know where they will wander.

Thanks for sharing your experiences--- that's exactly what I was looking for. I noticed when I did a search of Reiki on this site that only one reference came up so I was guessing not many people had tried it.
I am a believer and was a quick responder to acupuncture. I thought other forms of channeling energy might be worth investigating.

thanks again,
Carol

Carol, I have never tried it but I had a friend who practiced it and really believed in it. She was also the one that first introduced me to earthing. She was light years ahead of me in alternative practices. I'll be interested to hear what you learn. Deb

Thanks Deb, it will be next month but if possible I'm going to do it (it's in Kansas City so I'll have to work in being out of town).
