Which forum for asking about food analysis?
Which forum should I use to ask about food analysis? In other words whether a food might have gluten/corn/etc in it.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Which forum for asking about food analysis?
I had suggested the Information on Diet room in a discussion we recently had about just this issue, but I don't think we have a final answer as to what we are doing about a "GF" room per se.mle_ii wrote:Which forum should I use to ask about food analysis? Wayne is out of town right now, but I'll email him to check this post.

I posted my request in the Recipes and Cooking Tips forum. As far as a GF room I think it should be a Food Intolerance forum if anything so that it is more inclusive.Peggy wrote: I had suggested the Information on Diet room in a discussion we recently had about just this issue, but I don't think we have a final answer as to what we are doing about a "GF" room per se.

Mike,
We are adding forums on this board at such a rate that by the time we open it to newbies, they will be totally confused about where to go for help of any kind. For a while, at least, post all questions to the main message board, until we can decide which forums we really need, and which ones just add complexity.
Everyone seems to want a new forum for this, or that topic, but if we keep adding forums based on that philosophy, navigating through all the forums, and trying to decide on the proper one to post to, will soon be a daunting task--especially for newbies.
Questions should be posted to discussion forums, not to information forums. Information forums are for reference only. We can make an exception for the "Journals" forum, if you really want others to post opinions there, but none of the information forums were intended to be discussion forums.
Really, if you want your journal to be critiqued by others, we need to move that forum into the "Dissussion Forums" group.

We are in agreement that there are/will be too many forums here and that newbies will get lost. I have some thoughts on this subject that I'd like to run by you and the folks here, but I'll have to write them up later today when I get some "free time". :)
But in general I think that posting everything discussion wise in 1 forum has it's problems. Again I'll get to this later today.

Mike,
You are correct when you say that it has it's problems, but the problems are the opposite of what I expected. The Non-GFers don't have any problems with posting diet stuff on the main message board, which was the case on the old board--it's the GFers who keep clamoring for a GF discussion board, so I guess I will be adding one. Sigh. The one big happy family that I envisioned ,is rapidly being carved up into separate factions, due to the GFer's demands/requests. I suppose it's inevitable. Old habbits are hard to break.

Oh, Tex - please, don't be so quick to judge. We, the GFers, may just have to get used to the thought of being allowed to post about the diet on the main message board all of a sudden. We are kind of in the habbit of playing dodge-ball.... LOL!! But give us a chance to get used to the new board and the new rules, OK?
Love,
Karen

I Karen,
I'm sorry, I didn't intend for that post to sound judgmental, but I see that it probably came out that way. To be honest, I had intended to set up a GF discussion forum yesterday, but after I got sick, I forgot about it. If you think we might be able to get by without one, I'll hold off, and give it some more time.
If you really feel that we need a GF discussion forum, though, I'll set one up. I'd like to do whatever is best for the most people, and whatever is best for the overall operation of the board. I don't want to make anyone unhappy, but you have to realize that with a project like this, usually when one thing is changed to suit someone, then that change may make someone else unhappy. We have to find the best arrangement, and we may have to do it by trial and error.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
