We had a nice day with Lynn and the girls---
I had posted this before the board went down and hoped it made it in but I see NOT!!!!
Anyway---Kait will be having treatments (of injecting some type of serum into the areas that fused together in the side of her head--to UN-fuse them) so that comes Dec.28th they go in and insert the titanium plate to build out the side of her head----yeaaaaaaaaaaaa--
Trusting all will go well~~~~~~~~~and her body doesnt REJECT the plate~~~~as it had rejected other foreign things they placed there~~~
Not to sure of what FUSED but I gather it has to be TISSUE cus I dont think they can De-fuse bone??? So forgive me on this point~~~
Upon getting home---a phone call---Dan, Lou;s cousin, leaving a message about Marilyn--(2nd wife)
I called, cus when we saw them a week ago Marilyn didnt look so good---
Spoke with Marilyn about 2 hours---she has been diagnosed with cancer cells of the lymph nodes thru out her body--they are testing the cells to determine what TYPE it is~~~
She hasnt been feeling good since Feb. and she has been to doctors but nothing showed until another blood work-up indicated the protein in her blood was way up-- something was amuck---and this was suggested due to her *mammo* caming up positive!!!
But the good news is---as the Dr. said---it is a disease that she can survive ??? NO chemo---NO Rad. ???
She will get results Wednesday and then go to Mt. Sinai (cancer hospital) to discuss treatment---An Ratuxin IV is being talked about--
I have no idea what that all is????
She also had a bone marrow test done----
Marily is a nurse so she is understanding all thats been told her and she is a very intelligant lady--but she is so worried about Dan and that he has to go thru this ---Dan's first wife,Noreen, passed away of cacner---and he also lost 2 daughters---and Marilyn;s son is bi-polar--married with 2 kids but he does go off the deep end and this is her worry---
She has been able to counsel him when he gets *down* but her worry is always there---SUICIDE---his dad--Marilyn's *X* committed suicide by shooting himself right on their front steps of the house!!!
He had a problem also----which I gather her son has inherited--
Well hell, I am so disturbed by this---I adored Noreen and when Dan married Marilyn---and she and I got to be friends, I was once again happy--Marilyn is a truly terrific person----
So there we are again----
Enuf----I am just so sad over this that my plate again has runneth over and U all are my *shoulders*
Till later,
Luv Barbara

Hi Barbara,
I'm so sorry to read about Marilyn's problems. It sounds like it might be one of those types that might not necessarily be curable, but it can be controlled by treatment, and possible lifestyle changes, kind of like MC. There are a lot of people in this world, who are walking around with cancer, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, and continuing to lead pretty much normal lives.
For example, according to researchers, at least 50% of men over 50 years of age, and 70% of men over 70 years of age, have some form of prostate cancer. However, in most cases, it is not life-limiting, and usually not even a serious inconvenience. Most are not even aware that they have it. One of the reasons why cancer seems to be more prevelant these days, is probably because clinics are becoming better at detecting cases that previously went undetected.
I'm sorry if I caused your first post to disappear. The board didn't really go down--I disabled it. I needed to backup the database, (since it hadn't been backed up in a while, due to the fact that I was in the hospital). I noticed that you were logged in, and waited until your name no longer showed up as logged in, before I disabled the board. Something apparently went wrong, though, if a post disappeared in the process. I'll try to be more careful in the future.
Luv,
Galahad

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
