jerky

Post by ldubois7 »

Hello all!

I'm trying to keep protein in my diet as I do not like meat very well. I can't eat beef, chicken, pork, tuna, salmon, or shellfish as I strongly react to them.
I am eating lamb, haddock, cod, a little turkey, & bison. The lamb & bison are tough to come by in my neck of the woods.

I found a site (http://www.northstarbison.com) that sells grass fed elk & bison jerky with no added gluten, dairy, soy or eggs. This might be a way to get my protein at lunch time, as I now make a small smoothie with protein powder, and need something else.

Anyone eat jerky before remission?

Thanks!
Linda :)

I didn't eat jerky before MC, but I have eaten it while in remission and done fine. The key, though, is that I ate my own, home-made jerky with ingredients I know I can eat.

I really like jerky and seem OK with the naturally smoked/cured varieties with no MSG, no nitrates, etc.

What is your recipe for homemade jerky. I have a smoker and would like to try making my own.

Thanks,
Donna
